Psst! We're moving!
Yu Chi turned on the bedside lamp, dimming it to its lowest setting. After a night of wild passion, he and Sheng Li were in completely different states. He had held her for over an hour, his body and mind in an extreme state of excitement. Yet, even with his eyes closed, he couldn’t fall asleep.
Before June 8th, Yu Chi would never have imagined that he would meet Sheng Li, let alone have any connection with her. Even when she had playfully forced him to stay by her side as an assistant, he thought that after two months, they would part ways forever.
Even now, seeing the words “brother-in-law” on the screen, he stared at Sheng Li for a long while, still feeling like this was all some absurd dream.
Yu Chi thought about Yang Lingfeng and, for a fleeting moment, entertained the idea of doing what Yang Lingfeng did—hiding her away in a place only he knew, not having to send her off before dawn, and seeing her every time he closed and opened his eyes.
But reason and reality told him that this was impossible.
Another five minutes silently passed; it was already 5:15 AM.
Yu Chi pulled back the blanket and moved to get out of bed. The bed creaked loudly, likely weakened from last night’s activities. In her sleep, Sheng Li reflexively tightened her grip on his arm, her eyes still closed, softly yet arrogantly threatening: “You little rascal, if you dare misbehave again, I’ll cripple you tomorrow.”
Yu Chi: […]
He chuckled softly and whispered in her ear: “Sister, it’s 5:30.”
Sheng Li clung tightly to his arm, murmuring sleepily: “What does 5:30 have to do with me…”
“You said earlier that you needed to return to the hotel by 5:30 and asked me to wake you up.”
“…”
“So, you’re not going to the set today. I’ll have Yuan Yuan call in sick for you.”
“…”
Call in sick?
Not going to the set?
Sheng Li finally managed to claw her way out of her drowsiness, opening her eyes and locking gazes with Yu Chi. Instantly, her rationality returned, and she felt no shame. She pushed him away and flipped her attitude: “Stay away from me.”
After a pause, she added: “No, wait outside. Come back in when I call you.”
Yu Chi stared at her for a few seconds, unusually refraining from retorting. He picked up his clothes from the floor, slipped them on, placed her clothes beside the bed, and stood above her with a teasing tone: “Call me if you need help, Sister.”
Yu Chi walked out of the bedroom and gently closed the door behind him.
Sheng Li crawled out of bed, her body aching all over. She deeply regretted seducing an eighteen-year-old wolf cub, only to crash spectacularly. There was nothing more miserable than being exhausted after a night of passion, barely sleeping for over an hour, and then being woken up again, unable to stay in bed any longer.
She now deeply regretted not choosing a day when she didn’t have scenes scheduled in the morning.
A few minutes later, Sheng Li, fully dressed, sat on the edge of the bed. She checked her phone and sent a message to Yuan Yuan, thinking she might be asleep and that she could just head back herself. To her surprise, Yuan Yuan replied instantly.
Yuan Yuan: 【I’m downstairs. Lili, just come down.】
Sheng Li: 【Did Yu Chi tell you to come?】
Yuan Yuan: 【Yes, it’s almost 6 AM. Let’s hurry!】
Sheng Li’s throat felt dry. She picked up the glass from the cabinet, drank a few sips, and called Yu Chi back in.
Yu Chi stuffed his keys and phone into his pocket and walked in.
Sheng Li was so tired her eyes were red, and she looked up at Yu Chi with a pitiful expression: “I don’t want to walk. Carry me downstairs.”
A faint smile flickered in Yu Chi’s eyes. He nodded slightly and bent down to pick her up.
Sheng Li wrapped her arms around his neck, burying her face in the crook of his shoulder, yawning. She mumbled: “Tenth floor, are you planning to carry me all the way down?”
“Mm.” Yu Chi responded softly, carrying her out and opening the door. “You’re very light.”
“That’s nice to hear.” Pleased, Sheng Li couldn’t resist ruffling his hair. A gust of morning breeze blew through the open hallway window, waking her up a bit. Some inappropriate fragments of memories floated into her mind, and she casually praised, “Yes, my boyfriend is young, has great stamina, is handsome, has a good physique, and excellent hardware…”
“Sister, stop talking nonsense.” Yu Chi paused his steps, looking down at her with a faint smile.
Sheng Li: […]
She closed her eyes and buried her face in his shoulder, pretending to be dead.
It was not yet 6 AM, and the neighborhood was still asleep. Everything was quiet and empty, except for a black SUV parked downstairs.
When Yuan Yuan saw the motion-activated lights in the hallway turn on, she quickly got out of the car.
When Yu Chi carried Sheng Li out, Yuan Yuan’s eyes widened in shock. She froze by the car, unmoving, until they approached her. Only then did she snap out of it, stammering: “Um… Lili… Are you… Are you okay?”
Sheng Li’s face flushed. She muttered that she was fine and nudged Yu Chi: “Put me down.”
The car was borrowed by Yuan Yuan from the crew yesterday evening. It had been sitting unused in the parking lot. Yuan Yuan’s excuse was that their usual car had some issues, so they needed to borrow this one for the night.
It was a common SUV, much more low-key than Sheng Li’s luxury van, unlikely to draw attention.
Yu Chi set Sheng Li down. Yuan Yuan stole a glance at him. She had always acknowledged that Yu Chi was handsome, but she never imagined that he would become Lili’s boyfriend.
Before, no matter how she looked at him, he seemed younger, only eighteen.
Now, no matter how she looked at him, something was different—he was more charming than before.
Yuan Yuan cleared her throat: “Let’s get in the car quickly.”
The first light of dawn tinged the sky, and a crescent moon still hung in the west. That indistinguishable mix of morning light and moonlight enveloped Yu Chi, blurring his silhouette. His hands were in his pockets, his tall, slim figure standing casually. Behind him stood an old building, creating a scene reminiscent of a vintage yet beautiful movie frame.
Sheng Li leaned against the seat, gazing out the window at Yu Chi, her gaze fixed as if drawn in.
Their eyes met, and a sense of surrealism washed over her. It felt like they were filming a movie: on a certain day, she had a somewhat improper romance with this handsome, cool, and laid-back youth, spending a wild night together and parting in the early morning light.
The lingering effects of their intense intimacy hit her like strong liquor, reminding her that she had shared the most intimate moments with this young man.
A pang of reluctance rose in her heart; she didn’t want to leave.
Beside her, Yuan Yuan suddenly whispered: “Sister, brother-in-law, see you later.”
Yu Chi: […]
Sheng Li: […]
After the car drove off, she came back to her senses, turning to ask Yuan Yuan: “What did you just call Yu Chi?”
Yuan Yuan blinked innocently: “Brother-in-law, didn’t you say that if I wanted to, I should call him that?” She finished with a resentful look. “You two are… like this now. If I didn’t change my address, wouldn’t it seem like I lack tact?”
Sheng Li: […]
Yuan Yuan was truly a clever one.
