Psst! We're moving!
Tang Yu said, “To deal with me, you need to fight dominance with dominance. Forget that.”
— The Diary of a Little Tyrant
Tang Yu stared at her all night. The little tyrant was sick and injured, her face pale, lying there weakly. He used a cotton swab to moisten her lips several times, making them look soft and rosy.
Throughout the morning, while he handled official matters, he kept glancing at her. He noticed her eyelashes fluttering multiple times, signaling she was about to wake up.
After patiently waiting for over a minute, she still seemed unable to open her eyes, though her lashes continued to tremble.
Every time he thought about her saying she had broken up and couldn’t have anesthesia, his heart softened. Watching her fluttering lashes, he finally couldn’t resist. Following his heart, he leaned down and kissed her.
Unexpectedly, she woke up as soon as he kissed her.
Tang Xin glared at him for a moment, then said unhappily, “You’re taking advantage of my weakness.”
Her voice was still hoarse when she spoke.
It sounded a bit unpleasant.
She frowned slightly.
Tang Yu laughed openly and admitted frankly, nodding, “I do intend to take advantage of your weakness.”
He had realized by now that slowly pursuing and dragging things out with this girl wouldn’t work. She seemed to prefer more intense methods—like last night, after he got into a fight, her attitude toward him softened considerably.
What shamelessness.
Tang Xin’s face grew a bit warm, and she instinctively pursed her lips but immediately felt like it looked like she was reminiscing about the kiss. Hurriedly, she climbed out of bed, wanting to wash her face to clear her mind. After running a fever and being up all night, she was sure she must look awful.
Tang Yu stood up to help her, watching her say, “I’ve already called in sick for you from Lu Zhixing.”
She hummed in acknowledgment, slipped on her slippers, and quickly walked to the bathroom.
The ward was a private room with excellent facilities. Tang Yu had already placed daily necessities on the sink counter. She glanced at the mirror; aside from looking a bit tired, she didn’t seem too bad. Maybe she just needed some lipstick.
“Do you need help?”
Tang Yu asked from outside the door, worried that she might find it inconvenient with one hand.
“No!”
Tang Xin’s face flushed red. With one hand, she pulled up her hospital pants—the ones the nurse had changed her into last night—and wondered how exactly he intended to help her. She could manage brushing her teeth and washing her face with one hand just fine.
As soon as she opened the door, Tang Dingding and You Huan walked into the ward, while Tang Yu stepped out. Tang Dingding carried a lot of items—food and supplies—and piled them onto the table, explaining their uses one by one. Finally, she held up a glove and introduced it: “This is a waterproof glove. Wear it when you shower, and it’ll keep water out!”
Tang Xin smiled and said, “Thank you.”
Tang Dingding grabbed her hand to examine it and muttered, “My brother said you were pretty badly hurt and are staying in the hospital. He told me to come cheer you up.” Since Tang Xin’s phone was broken and Tang Yu didn’t have You Huan’s contact information, he called Tang Dingding instead, asking her to inform You Huan.
You Huan looked at Tang Xin, “What happened?”
Tang Xin sat back on the bed and recounted what had happened the previous night. You Huan furrowed her brows, “Did Zhong Yan lose her mind? Why keep a guy like that around until New Year’s? She’s really causing trouble. What are you going to do?”
Over a million yuan—even if it was her cousin—it couldn’t be handed over just like that.
“I can’t handle her anymore. I’ll call my uncle.”
Tang Xin wanted to reach for her phone but then remembered it was broken. Just then, Tang Yu pushed the door open and walked in, holding two phones—one of which was still sealed in its packaging. Meeting Tang Xin’s gaze, he placed the phones in front of her and said, “Your old phone has been repaired and can turn on, but it probably won’t work well. Let’s switch to a new one.”
She looked at him, took the phone with a lowered head, and muttered, “Thank you.”
The phone contained many photos and inspiration notes, some of which hadn’t been backed up yet and were very important to her.
Tang Yu opened the box and handed her the latest model available on the market, “Shall I help you transfer the SIM card?”
She shook her head, “I need to transfer my data first before switching.”
Tang Yu, “Then let’s eat first.”
A three-layer deluxe bento was placed on the small table in front of her, specially prepared by Auntie from the Tang household and brought over by Tang Dingding. It was nutritious and light, suitable for someone who had just recovered from a fever. After eating, Tang Xin felt much better.
Tang Yu gently ruffled her hair and whispered, “I have a meeting to host this afternoon. I’ll come back tonight.”
Tang Xin pressed her lips together and murmured, “You don’t have to come if you’re busy. There are nurses here.”
Tang Yu glanced at her and left without another word.
A young nurse came in with an IV bag. Tang Xin still needed to receive fluids. You Huan raised an eyebrow at her, “Sure enough, once a woman softens, men will dote on her. Things are progressing nicely, huh?”
Tang Dingding grinned as she watched Tang Xin, “It’s the first time my brother has fought for a woman. Are you still refusing him?”
This comment satisfied Tang Xin’s vanity. She recalled the image of Tang Yu in a suit fighting—it was even more handsome than a movie scene. Unquestionably, it was quite captivating. She smiled faintly, “I’ll consider it.”
Tang Dingding’s eyes lit up. Did this mean she was relenting?
There was a knock on the door, and Lu Zhixing and Feng Cheng walked in. Lu Zhixing placed the flowers on the table, looked at her hand, and frowned slightly, “How did it end up like this?”
“It’s a long story.” Family scandals shouldn’t be aired publicly, so Tang Xin didn’t elaborate. Instead, she raised her left hand, wrapped up like a rice dumpling, and gave a wry smile, “For the next half month, my efficiency will probably drop by half.”
Lu Zhixing pulled up a chair and sat beside her, raising an eyebrow jokingly, “Or should I say I’ll type for you?”
Anyway, among the company staff, he was currently the one with the most free time.
Tang Xin was momentarily stunned, then burst out laughing, “Tang Yu said something similar earlier.”
Upon hearing this, Tang Dingding shot sharp glances at Lu Zhixing.
Lu Zhixing sensed some hostility, paused, looked at Tang Dingding, and smiled, “What’s wrong?”
Tang Dingding shook her head.
They stayed for a while and then left. Before leaving, Lu Zhixing comforted Tang Xin, “Don’t rush the script. If necessary, we can push it back by half a month. It won’t have much impact. Don’t stress yourself.”
The group descended the stairs together. Before getting into the car, Tang Dingding glanced at Lu Zhixing standing by his car on the opposite side, talking on the phone. After he hung up, she suddenly ran up to him. Lu Zhixing, holding the car door handle, looked at her and raised an eyebrow, “What’s up? Dingding?”
Tang Dingding looked at him straightforwardly, “Are you pursuing Tang Xin?”
Lu Zhixing was taken aback, looked down at her with a slight smirk, and chuckled softly, “Who said that?”
“I figured it out myself,” Tang Dingding hesitated for a moment but still whispered, “My brother rarely likes anyone this much. Are you going to compete with him?”
Lu Zhixing: “...”
He looked down at the young girl and roughly understood what she was trying to say. Seeing her serious demeanor, he suddenly felt like teasing her. Leaning lazily against the car door, he smiled into the cool breeze, “I also rarely like someone this much. What should I do?”
Tang Dingding: “...”
Whatever.
…
After taking her medication and receiving two hours of IV fluids, Tang Xin slept through the entire afternoon.
She woke up at six o’clock. After posting a photo of her left hand on her social media with restricted visibility, she put her phone down. Shortly after, Zhong Yan, who had slept at home all day, arrived. Tang Xin didn’t greet her warmly. Zhong Yan knew she had caused serious trouble this time but still tugged lightly at Tang Xin’s sleeve and whispered, “Sis, please don’t tell my parents, or they’ll kill me.”
Tang Xin snapped back impatiently, “Even if I don’t mention them, I still want to kill you myself.”
Zhong Yan: “...”
Just as Tang Xin finished speaking, her phone rang.
Zhong Yan saw it was her father calling and immediately panicked, looking at Tang Xin with pleading eyes. “Sis, please don’t tell them...”
Ignoring her, Tang Xin answered the call. Her uncle asked about her hand, and Tang Xin glanced at Zhong Yan before bluntly saying, “Zhong Yan owes someone money...”
Before she could finish, Zhong Yan panicked and lunged forward to grab the phone. “Sis, I’m begging you! Don’t say it!”
Tang Xin dodged sideways, but Zhong Yan, in her haste, accidentally pressed down on Tang Xin’s injured hand, causing her to pale and cry out in pain. The next second, the weight on her body disappeared as Tang Yu strode over, his face stern. He lifted Zhong Yan off and tossed her aside, coldly saying, “What do you think you’re doing? Can’t you see she’s a patient? How dare you press on her like that?”
Zhong Yan turned pale, frightened by his tone and gaze. She lowered her head and whispered, “I didn’t mean to.”
Tang Yu looked at Tang Xin, whose hand was stiffly held in place. He gently took her hand to examine it and softly asked, “Does it hurt? Should I call the doctor?”
“It’s fine now.”
After a moment, the sharp pain subsided. Tang Xin picked up her phone from beside the pillow—it was still connected to the call. Bringing it to her ear, she heard her uncle urgently asking what had happened. Without looking at Zhong Yan, she said directly, “Zhong Yan and her boyfriend owe a large amount of high-interest debt...”
Zhong Yan’s face turned an ashen white, too scared to move with Tang Yu present. She could only watch helplessly as Tang Xin told her father everything.
Gao Heng entered carrying two three-tiered deluxe lunch boxes. Tang Yu took them from him, opened them, and placed them neatly on the table. Leaning against a chair, he checked his email while listening to Tang Xin’s side of the conversation.
He thought Tang Xin was doing nothing wrong. If you can’t handle something, don’t meddle.
Everyone is an adult and must take responsibility for their actions and choices.
After hanging up, Tang Xin looked at Zhong Yan and frowned. “I told you before to break up with Zhou Yang, but you didn’t listen. Do you have to wait until something bad happens to regret it?”
Zhong Yan lowered her head and muttered, “We broke up.”
And then got back together.
Tang Xin sighed, not understanding Zhong Yan’s taste in men. Her gaze lingered briefly on Tang Yu before shifting to Gao Heng, who looked earnest and upright, and began praising him: “In the future, use Assistant Gao as your reference when choosing a boyfriend. He’s handsome, honest, and ambitious...”
Tang Yu suddenly turned his head and gave her a once-over before scanning Gao Heng from top to bottom.
Gao Heng panicked and quickly interrupted Tang Xin, pleading, “Miss Tang, please stop praising me. If you keep going, I’m afraid Boss Tang will dock my bonus.”
Tang Xin: “...”
She looked at Tang Yu. Are you really this petty?
Tang Yu tilted his head, smirking faintly, as if to say, go ahead and praise him again if you dare.
Tang Xin glanced at Gao Heng and decided to let him off the hook. Turning to Zhong Yan, she said, “Never mind. I won’t say anything more. Your dad said he’s coming to Beijing tomorrow.” As soon as she finished speaking, Zhong Yan’s phone rang. Without even looking, she knew it was her family calling.
Too afraid to get angry at Tang Xin, Zhong Yan dejectedly clutched her phone and said, “I’ll head back now. Rest well.”
Zhong Yan answered the call and walked out of the ward.
Gao Heng left as well.
Tang Yu looked at Tang Xin. “Come eat.”
Tang Xin murmured in acknowledgment, got out of bed, and sat at the small dining table. Taking the chopsticks he handed her, she said, “I want to be discharged.”
Tang Yu glanced at her. “I’ve already asked the doctor. Stay one more night in case your fever returns tonight. You’ll need another IV drip tomorrow morning. I’ll come pick you up after work tomorrow evening.”
Tang Yu didn’t leave that night. Tang Xin tried twice to chase him away, but eventually, she silently allowed him to stay.
The autumn night was thick with darkness, no moon in sight, and the sky itself felt chilly.
It was already the last day of October. The fallen leaves had long since withered, and the dim yellow light from the street lamps filtered through the glass windows. Having slept a lot during the day, Tang Xin couldn’t fall asleep at night.
She turned to her side and looked at the adjacent bed.
A man nearly 187 cm tall squeezed onto the caregiver’s bed—it looked cramped no matter how you looked at it—but he lay perfectly still, not moving an inch.
Tang Xin knew he hadn’t slept all night and must have been exhausted. Staring at him, her heart softened. Women were strange creatures; a man shedding a little blood for them or getting into a fight could easily win them over. Zhong Yan said Zhou Yang had saved her, so she offered herself to him.
Of course, Zhou Yang was incomparable to Tang Yu.
She tossed and turned a few times.
“Can’t sleep?”
His deep, raspy voice, heavy with sleepiness, suddenly broke the silence of the night.
Tang Xin gasped softly and whispered, “Did I disturb you? I won’t move anymore. Go back to sleep.”
Tang Yu shifted slightly, propping up one leg and turning his head to look at her. He chuckled softly. “Do you need哄哄?” (comforting?)
“...”
Her ears felt like they were about to explode!
Sharing a room to sleep was already challenging enough. Tang Xin suppressed her wildly beating heart, turned her back to him, and said hurriedly, “No, you should sleep.”
After saying that, she didn’t move an inch.
She didn’t know when she finally fell asleep, but when she woke up the next morning, Tang Yu had already gone to the office.
That evening, after eating dinner at the hospital, they completed the discharge procedures.
By the time they got into the car, it was already pitch dark outside. Tang Yu started driving, and Tang Xin leaned forward to turn on the radio. However, restrained by the seatbelt, she struggled to reach it with her right hand. Tang Yu’s hand on the steering wheel loosened, and he reached over to turn on the radio, adjusting the station. “What do you want to listen to?”
“Just this.”
At that moment, Leslie Cheung’s version of The Moon Represents My Heart was playing on the radio—
A gentle kiss has already moved my heart,
A deep love makes me yearn till now.
You ask how much I love you, how deep my feelings are.
Think about it, take a look—
The moon represents my heart...
Tang Xin particularly loved this version.
It felt exceptionally tender and nostalgic.
She listened quietly, unmoving.
Tang Yu drove, occasionally glancing at her. When the song ended, he softly asked, “Do you like this song?”
Tang Xin snapped out of her thoughts and smiled sweetly at him. “Yes, I do. After the college entrance exam, a boy sang this song to confess his feelings to me under my apartment building, playing the guitar. He wasn’t very good, though—it was pretty silly.”
Then, her father chased him away with a broom.
Tang Yu’s hand on the steering wheel paused. This was the first time he’d heard her talk about her high school days. He smiled casually. “What about someone who sings well?”
Huh?
She turned to look at him.
Tang Yu didn’t say anything, just faintly curved his lips. Tang Xin suddenly understood, her heartbeat skipping a beat.
Was Tang Yu planning to sing to her?
Back at the residential garage, Tang Yu took their few belongings from the trunk. In the elevator, Tang Xin still didn’t say much. She was overwhelmed by Tang Yu’s flirtatious words.
Looking down at her phone, she saw that her uncle had already transferred over a million yuan to her account.
The debt for Zhong Yan was settled.
She was finally no longer a ten-thousand-yuan debtor.
Ding—
Stepping out of the elevator, Tang Yu followed her silently to the door. Tang Xin looked up at him and couldn’t help but say, “Tang Yu, I’ve noticed your skin is getting thicker and thicker.”
Tang Yu lowered his gaze and smirked at her. “Is that so?”
“Mm.”
“But it seems to work on you, doesn’t it?” He casually grinned. “Little tyrant, I’ve discovered that being too gentle with you isn’t effective. To deal with you, I need to fight dominance with dominance.”
“...”
Damn your ‘fight dominance with dominance’!
