Psst! We're moving!
Xiang Ge had once thought that Zhou Xingyan was as pure and detached as a celestial being. The most he ever lost control was when he kissed her in the hallway of Qiao Xin’s apartment.
Only now did she truly understand what it meant to lose control.
It was just like succumbing to beauty.
Xiang Ge sat on the marble countertop of the bathroom sink, half-heartedly pondering these thoughts. A towel was placed beneath her, her back leaning against the mirror, looking rather wilted.
Zhou Xingyan’s bathroom didn’t have a bathtub, so he had to pull out the showerhead to help clean her. His long fingers followed the warm water flow, probing gently, eliciting trembling spurts of white liquid that dripped onto the towel below.
The originally dry-separated bathroom was now flooded with water and foam. Zhou Xingyan closed his eyes briefly, exhaling deeply, his damp bangs hanging over his forehead.
He licked his lips, helping her rinse clean, then squeezed some body wash onto the loofah, working it into a rich lather.
The water slid down the side of his face, dripping from his jaw.
Even after all this, the man still exuded an undeniable allure.
Xiang Ge, propping herself up on the sink counter, suddenly straightened her body, leaned forward, and stretched out her arm to hook around his neck, pulling him closer to lick the droplets of water off his jawline.
Zhou Xingyan paused the loofah at the center of her thighs, lowering his gaze. “Do you still want to sleep?”
Her body, drenched in water, pressed against his cotton T-shirt, soaking through the dark fabric.
Xiang Ge bit his chin lightly, took the loofah from his hand, and slid off the counter to let him rinse away the foam.
After washing the front, she turned around to face the mirror.
In the reflection, the woman had a slim waist and slender legs, her skin pale and delicate. The only flaw was perhaps her slightly smaller chest.
Xiang Ge’s ears reddened slightly. She made a small sound of surprise, moved aside from the mirror, stepped back, and reached for the showerhead in his hand. “I’ll wash myself...”
Zhou Xingyan ignored her, pulling her back, lifting the showerhead to rinse away the foam clinging to her temples.
Xiang Ge’s back pressed against his chest through the wet T-shirt. He cleaned her thoroughly, then wrapped a large bath towel tightly around her like a sushi roll.
Even her arms were tucked inside.
She wriggled her fingers inside the towel, scratching at it. “Can you let me take my hands out?”
Zhou Xingyan loosened the towel slightly, allowing Xiang Ge to free her hands before rewrapping her. He closed the toilet lid, placed her on it, and retrieved the hairdryer.
Xiang Ge stood barefoot on the wet bathroom floor, the hum of the hairdryer buzzing in her ear. When she turned her head, she saw the damp T-shirt clinging to his body.
She had just touched those supple muscles hidden beneath the fabric. Now, his entire presence belonged to her, their scents mingling together.
Xiang Ge curved her lips upward, suddenly remembering something. “Ah,” she looked up. “Xingyan, should I take some medicine later?”
Zhou Xingyan remained silent, ruffling her nearly dry hair, turning off the hairdryer, and softly calling her name. “Xiang Ge.”
Xiang Ge blinked. “Hmm?”
He looked down at her. “We won’t have children in the future.”
Xiang Ge was taken aback, not quite processing his words. “What?”
Zhou Xingyan lifted her up, walked out of the bathroom into the bedroom, and placed her at the foot of the bed. “I don’t like children. Let’s not have any.”
Sitting on the edge of the bed, Xiang Ge chuckled. “Dr. Zhou is already thinking so far ahead after just becoming boyfriend and girlfriend.”
Zhou Xingyan leaned down, pecking her lips. “This should have happened much earlier.”
Xiang Ge raised an eyebrow, propping herself up on the bed and tilting backward lazily. “Oh—”
Zhou Xingyan didn’t respond.
She tilted her head, persistently asking, “When exactly is ‘earlier’?”
Zhou Xingyan silently chuckled, lowering his head, and tapped her forehead with his finger. “I’m going to take a shower. You change into your pajamas and sleep by yourself.”
As Xiang Ge watched him walk into the bathroom, she kicked her legs. “I can’t sleep.”
The towel, which had absorbed the moisture, felt uncomfortably damp after being wrapped around her for so long. As Zhou Xingyan went in, she grabbed the nearby pajamas and slipped them on, crawling under the covers.
By the time Zhou Xingyan finished his shower and came out, he saw the woman wearing oversized pajamas, sprawled across almost the entire bed. She clutched a pillow in her arms, another one supporting her head, while the blanket was pushed down haphazardly around her waist.
Zhou Xingyan was speechless.
Who was it who said she couldn’t sleep?
He pulled the blanket up to her shoulders, climbed into bed, and carefully removed the pillow from her embrace.
Xiang Ge frowned discontentedly, her eyes still closed, as her cold fingertips groped for his arm.
Zhou Xingyan sighed, placing the pillow at the head of the bed, lying down, and pulling her into his embrace.
The late September night air carried a slight chill. Xiang Ge unconsciously moved closer to the warmth beside her, her soft body pressing against him, her head burrowing into his chest.
Having slept from afternoon until night, Xiang Ge woke early the next morning.
When she woke up, Zhou Xingyan was still asleep. After regaining full consciousness, Xiang Ge felt a strange sense of pride at finally waking up earlier than him for once.
She playfully pinched his arm draped over her for a while, thinking about how rare it was for her to wake up early. She decided she could make him breakfast.
When the man woke up to the smell of freshly baked bread wafting through the house, he stepped out to see his girlfriend already preparing breakfast in the kitchen. Hearing his footsteps, she turned and smiled warmly. “You’re awake?”
—A perfectly harmonious and heartwarming scene.
Xiang Ge eagerly tried, carefully removing his arm, sitting up, and tiptoeing out of bed.
However, just as she sat up, an arm from behind hooked around her waist and pulled her back.
Zhou Xingyan drew her back into his embrace, his voice hoarse. “Where are you going?”
Leaning against his chest, Xiang Ge felt his breath tickling her earlobe, making her itch. She shrank her neck. “When did you wake up?”
Just moments ago, his breathing had been steady, deep in sleep.
Zhou Xingyan held her close, gathering her long hair to one side. His voice carried a sleepy roughness. “When you were playing with my eyelashes.”
Xiang Ge felt caught red-handed, slowly responding. “Then why did you pretend to be asleep?”
He hummed softly. “I wanted you to play a little longer.”
Xiang Ge blinked, turning around to face him.
Zhou Xingyan’s eyes were still closed, his long lashes enviable, casting faint shadows over his thin eyelids, which seemed almost translucent.
Unable to resist, she reached out, touching his eyes again. “How about I make you breakfast today?”
Zhou Xingyan slowly opened his eyes, his gaze clear and dark.
Meeting her gaze, he calmly spoke. “Revenge?”
Xiang Ge didn’t understand. “Huh?”
Zhou Xingyan raised his hand, ruffling the back of her head. “Because I hurt you yesterday, so you plan to blow up the kitchen?”
Xiang Ge: “...”
In the end, breakfast was still prepared by Zhou Xingyan. Xiang Ge begrudgingly heated some milk.
After the meal, Zhou Xingyan went to work, and shortly after seeing him off, Xia Wei called.
The two hadn’t seen each other in a while and planned to meet for a meal someday. Chatting idly over video, they drifted from topic to topic. Xiang Ge casually mentioned not having had her period for several months.
After she finished speaking, Xia Wei’s eyes widened on the other end.
Seeing her remain silent for a long while, Xiang Ge looked up to see Xia Wei leaning forward. “Should you buy a pregnancy test?”
“If pregnancy could be detected the day after conception, then I would.” Xiang Ge calmly replied.
Xia Wei exclaimed. “So that means—”
“—We finally achieved harmony yesterday.” Xiang Ge slumped back onto the sofa, unable to help but sigh. “It wasn’t easy…”
Xia Wei didn’t speak, suddenly asking, “Did you continue drinking that herbal medicine?”
“I drank it regularly before filming started.” Xiang Ge honestly answered.
Xia Wei understood. “You stopped after filming began because no one was watching you.” She nodded. “Should I tell your little doctor what you used to call him? Something like ‘quack old Chinese doctor’?”
“...”
Xiang Ge thought to herself that she had already told him his mother had peculiar habits and was terrifying.
She pouted, saying nothing. Xia Wei snickered on the other end and hung up without further comment.
An hour later, the doorbell rang. Xia Wei appeared at Zhou Xingyan’s doorstep.
Xiang Ge, still munching on a spicy chicken claw, dressed in pajamas and bare-faced, looked at her in surprise.
Xia Wei tilted her chin. “Go change clothes.”
“What for?” Xiang Ge chewed on the collagen-rich snack.
“Let’s go to the hospital,” Xia Wei furrowed her brows, continuing. “This irregularity isn’t the first time for you. This delay has gone on too long; let’s get it checked out.”
Surprisingly, Xiang Ge didn’t object this time. After a brief silence, she obediently went to change clothes.
Xia Wei drove them there. At Xiang Ge’s insistence, they avoided the Second Hospital and chose another. After registering and waiting in line, the elevator was crowded, so Xia Wei simply led her to the escalator.
As they ascended and walked inward, Xiang Ge glanced up casually, catching sight of a man being pulled by a woman into the emergency exit corridor at the end.
The woman was tall, her profile fleeting at a distance, dragging a man in a suit into the stairwell.
Xiang Ge paused, letting out a soft sound.
Xia Wei turned to look at her. “What’s wrong?”
Xiang Ge shook her head, raising her eyebrows. “Nothing. Let’s go.”
They reached the examination room entrance and sat on chairs, waiting for a while until the nurse called their number.
Xiang Ge looked up. Even in a different hospital and department, coincidentally, it was the last examination room by the window.
Holding her medical record, Xiang Ge walked over and pushed open the door.
Even the doorknob was identical. Wasn’t every hospital examination room door handle the same?
For a moment, she had the illusion that opening the door would reveal Zhou Xingyan.
She withdrew her gaze from the doorknob, looking up as she entered.
Behind the desk in the examination room sat a woman with her long hair tied high in a ponytail. Her face was lightly made up, features delicate. She lifted her eyes.
Xiang Ge froze, realizing after three seconds, “Ah.”
So the former school radio station beauty didn’t have to become a broadcaster or work in media—she could also be a gynecologist.
