Psst! We're moving!
“– Salute!”
In the martyrs’ cemetery, police officers in uniform saluted their three colleagues who had died during Operation Cheetah.
Jiang Beibei, dressed in black, stood at the forefront, supporting her grandmother. She kept her head bowed.
Grandma didn’t cry—she was stronger than anyone expected. After Tang Xizhou informed her of the fugitive’s capture, Jiang Beibei’s grandmother simply nodded calmly and said, “Good, I know now. That’s great.”
With the weight off her shoulders, the memorial ceremony concluded. Grandma patted Jiang Beibei’s hand and said, “Now that all the troubles are over, this year is smooth sailing. The only thing left is your wedding. Talk to your mother-in-law about moving it forward if possible.”
Jiang Beibei asked curiously, “Why so urgent?”
“You’ve already chosen your partner, and there’s no more trouble. Shouldn’t you hurry up and start a new life? From what I see, you’re not going to change your mind. If possible, get married in the first half of the year.”
“How could I regret it? I’m thrilled! But timing-wise, the first half might be tough. We need to plan the engagement banquet ahead of time.”
Mrs. Chu overheard as she caught up with them and immediately told Jiang Beibei, “The wedding ceremony? It can be moved earlier. Just tell me when you want it, and I’ll make sure it’s booked no matter what!”
Chu Yao helped Grandma on the other side, sighing softly but smiling without saying anything.
“Why are you sighing!” Mrs. Chu would have glared daggers at her son if Grandma weren’t present.
“Let Beibei decide,” Chu Yao said. “When do you want it?”
“My birthday…” Jiang Beibei whispered hesitantly. “If we have it on my birthday… will it be too rushed?”
Jiang Beibei’s birthday was June 1st, Children’s Day.
Mrs. Chu responded, “It’s a bit tight, but if my daughter wants it, I can arrange it even by May 1st!”
Tang Xizhou followed behind Mrs. Chu as they descended the mountain, overhearing everything. He chuckled and said, “Then we’ll need to support Captain Yao.”
“Such a reliable godson!” Mrs. Chu patted Tang Xizhou’s shoulder.
Almost everyone from the bureau who wasn’t on duty attended the memorial service, including the retired Chief Chang.
“Pao Lan!” Former Chief Chang spotted Mrs. Chu, straightened his face, and opened with a familiar joke. “Step out!”
“Chief Chang.” Mrs. Chu saluted. “How’s your health, sir?”
“Thanks to you not killing me with stress, I’ll surely live long.” Chief Chang stepped closer and patted her. “You haven’t changed much all these years, and neither has Chu Yang.”
“Your eyesight’s failing,” Mrs. Chu quipped, pointing at Chu Yao. “That’s my son. Old Chu’s on duty today and couldn’t come.”
“Chu Yao, right?” Chief Chang nodded. “A fine young man—looks sharper than Chu Yang back in the day. And this must be Jiang Beibei.”
Chief Chang smiled warmly. “Good, very impressive. You’ve grown up well.”
“Let me introduce her,” Mrs. Chu cleared her throat, gesturing to Jiang Beibei. “This is my daughter. And that one”—she pointed at Chu Yao—”is now our son-in-law.”
It took Chief Chang a moment to process the relationships. His face displayed an exaggerated look of shock that seemed far too youthful for his age.
The boys from Unit Two, trailing behind, snickered quietly.
“Married? Are they married?”
Jiang Beibei laughed, her eyes crinkling as she replied, “Yes, legally binding.”
Chief Chang scolded Mrs. Chu, “Pao Lan, how could you not tell me?! Your publicity work is lacking!”
“We’re still finalizing the wedding date,” Mrs. Chu chuckled. “Once it’s set, you’ll be the first person we invite, Chief Chang!”
Tang Xizhou asked teasingly, “Little sis, just say it—are we setting the date for June 1st?”
“…Alright, June 1st it is,” Jiang Beibei shyly covered her face. “Earlier works too.”
After the wedding date was set, Unit Two entered a state of bustling activity. Between work shifts and overtime, the siblings also prepared for the wedding.
One day, after work, Chu Yao arrived home to find Jiang Beibei wearing tiger-patterned loungewear, sprawled over the coffee table, furiously writing.
He tugged at the tiger tail and hugged her from behind, asking, “Are the invitations here?”
“Mm-hmm.” Jiang Beibei turned around, holding up her hands, and let out a playful growl. “Look at your delicate skin—you should taste delicious. Tonight’s snack is decided: you!”
Chu Yao rested his chin on her shoulder and chuckled softly. He picked up a few completed invitations from the table. “Are you handwriting them?”
“Yes,” Jiang Beibei replied. “It feels more sincere. Plus, I want to show off my handwriting.”
Jiang Beibei’s penmanship was beautiful, bold, and striking. At first glance, it appeared intimidating, and she excelled at elegant cursive English, perfect for impressing on invitations and cards.
“You’re adorable,” Chu Yao leaned over, brushing his lips against her cheek, and smiled. “Here’s a gift for such a cute girl.”
“What is it?”
“The wedding photo package I booked.” Chu Yao pulled a card from his pocket. “Take a look at the options. There’s a section where you can choose eight custom photos—anything you want.”
“Really?” Jiang Beibei’s eyes sparkled. “Even risqué bikini-style wedding photos?”
Before Chu Yao could nod, Jiang Beibei quickly covered his mouth and blurted, “No, no, no! Skip that. A-cup doesn’t need to be photographed. Only you need to know my size—it’s not for public consumption anymore.”
Chu Yao mimicked sealing his lips shut. His cool fingers grazed her chest, pressing lightly. He hummed thoughtfully, “It seems like… it’s grown a little.”
“An illusion!” Jiang Beibei exclaimed. “Yao Ge, it’s definitely an illusion. Kill your delusions and stop consoling me!”
After some playful banter, Jiang Beibei finally examined the wedding photo package Chu Yao had booked.
“Eighteen campus-themed photos, twelve ancient Chinese-themed, twelve Republican-era themed, ten wedding seascape shots… Ah!! What’s this?!”
Her eyes landed on the final option: a medieval European vampire castle. She squealed excitedly, “Yao Ge, what is this?! Is it real?!”
“Yes,” Chu Yao replied. “I knew you’d like it. I saw their sample photos for this Gothic vampire theme—they’re excellent. But it’s niche. Most people probably think wedding photos featuring monsters aren’t ideal. But I figured you’d love it, so I included it.”
Jiang Beibei threw her arms around Chu Yao and planted a big kiss on him. “I love you to death!”
“I think,” Chu Yao teased, “you’re the one who really wants to see me… in this.”
Chu Yao understood her tastes and aesthetic perfectly. After all, he’d seen her favorite comics, including the one where the male protagonist bore a striking resemblance to him. Later, the author revealed the character’s mysterious identity—a vampire duke.
Jiang Beibei wrapped her arms around Chu Yao’s neck and whispered something in his ear.
Chu Yao’s eyebrows twitched slightly. “Hmm? You want to see it?”
“Yes.”
She wanted to see him narrow his eyes, slowly lick his fangs, then graze his tongue across the corner of his mouth.
Chu Yao pinched Jiang Beibei’s chin. His cool fingertips sent shivers down her spine. Her eyes widened as she stared at him intently.
Chu Yao narrowed his eyes, letting out a low chuckle. He murmured softly, “Hungry… let me taste something delicious.”
“Ah! Ah!” Jiang Beibei slapped the floor in excitement. “That’s it! Perfect delivery!”
Later, Chu Yao kissed her deeply, pulling her closer into his embrace.
“What about the remaining eight custom photos…?” Jiang Beibei asked. “Can we take group photos with the brothers?”
“Hmm?”
“Photos with my brothers.”
Chu Yao buried his face in her neck, gently nipping her skin. “Not jealous?”
“If Yao Ge says no, I’ll listen.”
“It’s fine,” Chu Yao said. “I know you want to take them. Do whatever makes you happy. This is a once-in-a-lifetime event. Satisfying you is the most important thing.”
“I’ll pick the outfits!” Jiang Beibei declared. “I want military uniforms!”
Chu Yao raised his head, surprise flickering in his eyes. “What kind of military uniforms?”
“The ones warlords wore during the Republican era,” Jiang Beibei nearly drooled. “So handsome! I absolutely have to take this series. Then I’ll set it as my phone wallpaper, carry it everywhere, and show it to people whenever they ask, ‘You look familiar. Are you Jiang Beibei with five older brothers?’ And I’ll say, ‘Yes, exactly.’ Then I’ll show them your photos!”
Chu Yao asked, “And what about you?”
“What?”
“If we’re wearing military uniforms, what will you wear?”
“I’ll wear something super obedient, like a student uniform. I’ll hold my bunny plushie and act like a sweet Republican-era girl.”
“…You obedient?” Chu Yao burst out laughing. He grabbed Jiang Beibei’s hand as she tried to escape, kissing her fingertips lightly. “So obedient, yet your hands can’t stay still for a moment.”
“In short!” Jiang Beibei blushed but boldly declared, “This is how I want to take the photos!”
Chu Yao agreed. “As you wish. But… Beibei, we need to eat first.”
“What’s for dinner?” Jiang Beibei asked. “Grandma made braised fish tonight. Want some?”
Chu Yao shook his head, a mischievous glint in his eyes. “Tonight, let’s change things up. No fish—let’s eat tiger meat.”
Jiang Beibei glanced down at her tiger-patterned loungewear, rubbed her nose, and giggled. “As long as you’re not afraid of being scratched.”
“Not afraid…” Chu Yao lifted her up. “This little tiger only tickles my heart.”
“Chu Yao! Stop saying such things with a straight face!”

A week later, the brothers received the custom military uniforms Jiang Beibei had ordered.
Huang Yuandao, accompanying them to the outdoor shoot, watched as the men finished changing and strode over in formation, their long legs commanding attention. He exclaimed enviously, “Oh my goodness, Beibei, you sure know how to have fun!”
But Jiang Beibei added a playful twist. Instead of donning the obedient schoolgirl outfit from the Republican era she’d mentioned, she first put on the light pink bunny suit she’d brought from home. On her head sat bunny ears, her feet adorned with rabbit slippers, and her hair tied in twin tails. Clutching her bunny plushie, she made her grand entrance.
The reactions were explosive on both sides.
On one side, the photographers gawked at the long-legged, uniform-clad brothers, slapping their thighs in excitement. On the other side, the brothers burst into laughter upon seeing Jiang Beibei’s outfit.
“Little sis, tell me—are we shooting soldiers and bunny spirits?”
“I absolutely love this contrast! So cute!” Jiang Beibei bounced excitedly, the ears on her rabbit slippers bouncing along. “We have eight shots. I’ll start with this outfit, then change into something proper.”
The five brothers sat as instructed by the photographer, while Jiang Beibei stood behind them, grinning with satisfaction and pride.
Qin Yuan muttered softly, “Beibei, this makes me feel guilty.”
Tang Xizhou chimed in, “Doesn’t it make you want to punch Chu Yao?”
Song Lang added, “Honestly, I feel a bit… like my sister’s still too young.”
Yan Qingming said, “Everyone, stop talking—I just want to laugh.”
Tang Xizhou teased, “Does Big Brother feel ashamed posing like this at his age?”
Chu Yao replied, “Just this once. It’ll be a nice keepsake.”
Qin Yuan groaned, “I must be crazy to agree to this weird wedding photo session…”
Right before the photographer pressed the shutter, Jiang Beibei spread her arms wide and proudly shouted, “See this? They’re all my brothers! Even my husband is my brother! Hahaha!”
Not only the photographer and the brothers were startled—even the camera clicked with a surprised snap .
Huang Yuandao burst out laughing, nearly pounding the cement ground to pieces.
In the end, Jiang Beibei mercifully returned to a more normal state, donning a graceful dress to pose with her brothers in military uniforms.
Like an old family portrait, the photo captured the five protective brothers surrounding their little sister. In that moment, happiness was immortalized.
“Let me tell you something,” Jiang Beibei stared into the lens, maintaining her smile. “I absolutely adore my five brothers.”
Chu Yao: “I love you too.”
Tang Xizhou: “Let me tell you something: my sister is the best. No other girl compares.”
Yan Qingming: “After all these years of hard work, we’ve finally raised our little sister.”
Song Lang: “Yes, I’ll always be your brother.”
Qin Yuan: “Big Brother loves you too.”
Jiang Beibei whispered softly to herself, “It’s complete… Mom and Dad, I have no regrets in this life.”
