Psst! We're moving!
“I refuse.”
“Don’t have foolish ideas and marry Ha Joo-eun.”
“I don’t love you. So, don’t do something stupid like throwing everything away because of me.”
“I’m serious. How many times have I told you? I have someone else.”
Seok-kyung spent several days unable to recover from the shock.
Following his father’s advice, he had put his heart forward to protect the woman he loved, but he was blocked from the very beginning.
He couldn’t understand why she had continued to accept his embrace without resisting if she had another person.
It’s a lie.
Her tearful eyes and body when he held her clearly desired him.
Even without expressing her inner feelings, how could he not know after several intimate encounters where their bodies met?
It was clearly his fault for not giving her trust.
He must have been a man who hadn’t given her trust from the divorce until now.
So, there was only one thing he had to do.
“What’s with the sudden visit to the hotel? I thought we wouldn’t be able to meet for a while.”
Joo-eun approached and sat on a chair, smiling.
There was no other reason for him to come all the way to the hotel and call her to the cafe.
“Let’s call off our wedding.”
Seok-kyung stared blankly at Joo-eun and said in a dry tone.
Since it was a marriage arranged for the sake of their parents’ business interests, Joo-eun herself wouldn’t suffer any damage from the annulment.
If Seok-kyung gave a reason for wanting to break off the engagement, no one would blame Joo-eun for the rumors circulating among people.
“Because of Lee Eun-chae?”
Seok-kyung slightly furrowed his brow at Joo-eun’s question.
“You knew?”
“How could I not? It seems like you’re the only one who doesn’t know?”
“Hmm...”
“You’re an easier person to read than I thought.”
Joo-eun crossed her long legs and leaned back in her chair with a blank expression.
He was relieved that there was no emotion on her slightly tired face.
“But you know what? I really need to go through with this marriage.”
“What?”
“Seeing you desire something, I started wanting it too, this man named Baek Seok-kyung.”
It was an abnormal possessiveness and obsession.
Wanting a man who loved someone else. Emotions that hadn’t existed between the two of them had now intervened.
“Don’t do this. It won’t be good for you.”
“Is that really so?”
“Even if we get married, you have something to gain, but if we don’t, I have nothing to lose.”
“Huh, do you really think so?”
She chuckled softly.
A chill ran down Seok-kyung’s spine at the sound of her laughter. What card was she holding that made her so confident?
“What if I tell your uncle or Chairman Baek about our broken engagement? Then who will become the next CEO of Baedo Group?”
“Are you threatening me with something like that?”
“It’s a different story if the reason for our broken engagement is that you were caught having an affair with your ex-wife.”
“Caught? Who...”
“Do you think I’ll just willingly let Lee Eun-chae stay by your side? The reason for suddenly breaking off the engagement just a few months before the wedding is because of Baek Seok-kyung’s ex-wife, and on top of that, they have that kind of relationship. Who would like that? Reporters? Your uncle?”
Seok-kyung realized Joo-eun’s intentions.
She seemed to have calculated that if she leaked the relationship between Seok-kyung and Eun-chae to the media and created a big scandal, it would be difficult for him to become the next CEO.
And that calculation was based on fact.
“Putting everything else aside, if you don’t become the CEO of Baedo Group, do you think Madam Cha will just stand by? If I were her, I wouldn’t leave Lee Eun-chae alone.”
A murderous intent flickered in Joo-eun’s eyes.
If she, who had only recently become greedy for Seok-kyung, was this intense, how much more would Madam Cha be?
Seok-kyung gritted his teeth, thinking of his furious mother. But he was prepared to accept all of this.
“I don’t care.”
“What?”
“I’ll protect my position and Eun-chae in my own way, so do as you please.”
“Seok-kyung-ssi.”
“I’ve said all I needed to say, so I’ll be going now.”
As Seok-kyung stood up, Joo-eun grabbed his hand.
“I’m not kidding. I’m really going to block your path.”
“Yeah, I know.”
He looked down at her with cold eyes and twisted his hand free.
“I said I know, so do as you please.”
He turned around.
It was truly over with Ha Joo-eun now.

Madam Cha came to the CEO’s office of Baedo Group to organize her ex-husband’s belongings and to see how the office should be redecorated when Seok-kyung took over as CEO.
However, she was taken aback by a sudden call from Joo-eun.
“Okay. Don’t worry. I’ll take care of everything. ... Yes. I’ll get rid of her from Seok-kyung’s side no matter what. ... Yes, I’ll hang up now.”
Madam Cha hung up the phone and threw it against the wall. The phone shattered into pieces, scattering fragments everywhere.
“Secretary Lee! Secretary Lee, come here right now!”
At Madam Cha’s loud shout, Secretary Lee opened the CEO’s office door and rushed inside.
“What’s wrong, Madam?”
“Bring Lee Eun-chae to me right now.”
“Pardon?”
“Didn’t you hear me? Bring that bitch Lee Eun-chae here right now!”
“Ah, yes, I understand.”
Secretary Lee lowered his head and retreated before Madam Cha, who was issuing orders with a flushed face.
Joo-eun had just called, crying, and told her that Seok-kyung wanted to break off the engagement. Hearing that made her blood boil.
How dare that woman Lee Eun-chae ruin Cha Kyung-ok’s plans?
She wanted to call Seok-kyung and make a scene, but she held back.
What fault did the wavering party have? It was all Eun-chae’s fault for not disappearing from Seok-kyung’s sight and for extending her tempting hand.
She shouldn’t have brought that crazy woman into her house.
Madam Cha sat cross-legged on the upper seat of the sofa in the Baedo Group CEO’s office, chewing on her thumbnail.
Her husband had died, and now, if Seok-kyung simply inherited this office, her lifelong wish would be fulfilled.
Unlike her weak-willed husband, Seok-kyung resembled her, being cold and sharp. How could she bear to see such a child go astray because of one wrong woman?
It was absurd.
Now that she had prevented Joo-eun from running to her fiancé, Madam Cha had to separate Eun-chae from Seok-kyung at all costs.
She waited anxiously, biting her fingernails, and after two hours, Secretary Lee brought Eun-chae into the CEO’s office.
“Secretary Lee, you can leave now.”
“Yes, Madam.”
As Secretary Lee went out, Madam Cha stared at Eun-chae, who stood alone on one side of the office.
Even if she was pretty, she had a common face, a body that had now lost its value.
All because of this kind of girl.
“Why do you think I called you here?”
“I don’t know.”
“You don’t know?”
“No.”
Madam Cha smiled brightly and approached Eun-chae. Then, she slapped Eun-chae hard across the cheek, who was looking at her with a bewildered expression.
The sound of the slap echoed through the office, and Eun-chae stumbled, catching herself on the wall.
Her eyes, wide with shock, stared at Madam Cha, and a clear handprint was visible on her struck cheek.
“You worthless thing, how dare you try to block someone’s future!”
“W-What are you talking about...?”
Eun-chae covered her cheek with her hand, tears welling up in her eyes.
“I told you that having a head full of flowers is only worthwhile if you have the value to back it up! Someone as worthless as toilet paper dares to covet Seok-kyung!”
“I never coveted him.”
“You never coveted him? Then why is Seok-kyung saying he wants to break off the engagement?”
“B-Break off the engagement?”
Eun-chae shook her head as if she knew nothing.
Hmph, what a performance!
Madam Cha found Eun-chae, pretending to be innocent, even more repulsive. The thought that she had seduced Seok-kyung with that face twisted her stomach.
“Do you want to see your father’s release date postponed?”
“Excuse me? What are you talking about?”
“Do you think I can’t do it? Shall I relentlessly encourage your mother’s reckless spending until she can’t handle it?”
“Mother! What on earth!”
“Who’s whose mother!”
Madam Cha raised her hand again, but she didn’t strike Eun-chae, who squeezed her eyes shut and lowered her head.
“Would you like it if Seok-kyung was pushed out of the successor position and became a nobody?”
“I didn’t do anything wrong.”
Eun-chae said, sobbing.
“You didn’t do anything wrong? Look at the situation now, whether you did something or not. I can just cut ties with Seok-kyung. But do you think Seok-kyung will continue to love you, the one who blocked his path?”
Even as she looked directly at her, Eun-chae shook her head and cried.
The stupid girl really seemed not to have thought about what would happen next. Her eyes, which seemed like they couldn’t get any bigger, widened endlessly, and her face turned pale.
Her reddened cheek was visible between her trembling hands.
What an utterly foolish girl.
“Face reality. Why don’t you understand that the love you dream of won’t feed you?”
“...Hic.”
“Behave yourself. If you shake our Seok-kyung up even once more, I won’t leave you or your parents alone. Do you understand?”
Eun-chae nodded, finally seeming to understand.
Seeing the tears dripping onto the CEO’s office floor made Madam Cha’s stomach churn, and she called Secretary Lee again.
“Clean this up in front of me.”
“Yes, Madam.”
Madam Cha clicked her tongue as she watched Eun-chae being dragged away by Secretary Lee, her body swaying.
No wonder she was easily deceived and couldn’t even keep her own man.
A little later, Secretary Lee came up and reported that Eun-chae had left.
“Buy me a new phone.”
“Yes, Madam.”
“And find out who the warden is at the prison where Lee Eun-chae’s father is. Also, check if her mother is still living at her younger sibling’s house.”
“Yes, I understand.”
Weeds only multiply if left alone. Uprooting them completely at once was the way to ensure the future.
Still, venting her anger on Eun-chae had made her feel a bit better.
Madam Cha noticed her thumb, which she had bitten earlier, and called the nail salon to make an appointment.
It was time to repaint her nails bright red, which she had removed for the funeral.
