12 Fuglinn í fjörunni

Lag: Jón Þórarinsson

Texti: Þjóðvísa / Volksweise / Folk poem

Fuglinn í fjörunni

Fuglinn í fjörunni,

hann heitir már.

Silkibleik er húfan hans

og gult undir hár.

Er sá fuglinn ekki smár,

bæði digur og fótahár,

á bakinu svartur, á bringunni grár.

Bröltir hann oft í snörunni

fuglinn í fjörunni.

Fuglinn í fjörunni

hann er bróðir þinn.

Ekki get ég stigið við þig

stuttfótur minn.

Der Vogel am Strand

Der Vogel am Strand,

wird Möwe genannt .

Er hat eine silberne Haube

und rotgelbe Füsschen.

Dieser Vogel ist nicht klein,

sondern dick und hochbeinig,

schwarz am Rücken, graulich am Bauch.

Manchmal zappelt er in der Falle

Der Vogel am Strand.

Er ist dein Bruder,

der Vogel am Strand.

Aber mit dir kann man nicht tanzen

mein kleiner Kurzfuss.

The bird on the beach

The bird on the beach - he is named gull.

He has a silken silvery head and orange colored feet.

That bird is not dainty, but stout and tall,

black on his back and gray on his belly.

Often he tumbles into the snare,

the bird on the beach.

He is your brother,

The bird on the beach.

I can not dance with you, my short-footed one.
