Wiegenlied
in jedem Hügel alles ruht,
im Schilf der Schwan sich bettet weich
und die Forelle im Bach und Teich.
Nun schlaf an meinem Busen, Kind,

A Lullaby
The night creeps around land
and sea - doors are locked in palaces
and cottages alike,
All is quiet in country and town, and
the little child should be sleeping.
The sun is hiding behind the
mountain, the fairies are asleep
in their hills, the swan children in
the rushes and the trout in the lake.
Sleep well my little baby, I
will rock you my little boy.
In your dreams you will get
presents, a sea-shell and a bird
made of haddock bones.
However cold and dark it gets tonight
and what ever will go astray,
God will watch over you.
