Jodi’s Famous Cut-Outs Jodi Stasburg (Becky’s friend)
1 cup butter (2 sticks)
1 tsp vanilla
1 ½ cup powdered sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 egg
¼ tsp. cream of tartar
¼ tsp. salt
2 ¾ cups flour
Mix all ingredients with a mixer. Start with softened butter and add the rest of the ingredients. Add the flour last. Do not refrigerate. The dough will be nice and soft.
If you are using a cookie cutter, roll out in powdered sugar rather than flour. If you must, add only a tiny bit of flour. These cookies are very light because you use powdered sugar in them. Bake for about 8 minutes at 350° F. If you don’t feel like rolling them out, use small spoonfuls on a cookie sheet and then press down with the bottom of a glass.
