The caster can verbally communicate with all plants or plant creatures in the area of effect.
Effects on Normal Plants
The caster can request plants to entangle all in the area (other than the caster) as per the spell. While the caster cannot ask the plants to entangle only enemies, the caster can have the plants release one creature per round (as a control action not requiring concentration). If the caster leaves the area, the plants behave normally (not entangling). A pass without trace effect makes a creature immune to plant entanglement.
The caster can request the plants allow unrestricted movement for the caster and the caster's allies (the plants create an open space for movement that moves with the caster). Movement cannot be faster than the radius of the spell per round.
Immobile plants will not respond to those passing through their area. ie. molds won't release spores, branches won't brush against a passerby, etc.
The plants can describe (in rudimentary terms), creatures that have passed through them within the last 48 hours.
Effects on Plant Creatures
Any creature with the plant or fungi creature type or sub-type can be conversed with.
The creatures will immediately cease any hostile action for 1 round.
The caster can use an encounter reaction check to influence the plants affected by the spell. This includes modifiers for Charisma or any appropriate gifts (perhaps fresh soil, water, or food).
A result of hostile will cause plants to resume their attack. Plants that become positive or friendly may perform some action on behalf of the spell caster—this will not generally adjust the reaction check, although very dangerous requests may (per the GM). The spell caster will get the sense of the type of request that will require an adjustment to their reaction check. Neutral plants may allow creatures to pass by without attacking.
If plants are under active control of another, the plants will pause for 1 round but will resume normal activity (e.g. attacking) after that and no reaction check is necessary.
