This spell creates a flat plane of granite.
The caster completes the spell and must indicate where the wall will appear. One part must be within the stated range. The stone plane can be made verticle or horizontal. When the spell is targeted, the caster must state which version of the spell is being cast.
The wall of stone (whether vertical or horizontal) must adjoin with another stone area or terrain feature or the spell will fail.
Area of Effect. The wall can have up to an area of 20-sq.-ft. per caster level. The thickness is 1/4-ft. per caster level. If the thickness is halved, the area effected can be doubled. Some examples:
CL 9: 10-ft. high by 15-ft. long wall with a thickness of 2.25-inches (total area = 120 sq. ft. from a possible 135 sq. ft.).
CL 9 (half thickness): 10-ft. high by 25-ft. long wall with a thickness of ~1-inch (total area = 250 sq. ft. from a possible 270 sq. ft.).
CL 12 (half thickness): 15-ft. high by 20-ft. long wall with a thickness of 1.5-inch (total area = 300 sq. ft. from a possible 360 sq. ft.).
Vertical Wall
The wall must be a flat vertical plane. It cannot bend or turn.
The wall must be on a solid surface or the spell will fail.
The wall must be contiguous.
The wall is immobile.
The wall can appear on a surface not perfectly level and can encompass certain types of obstructions (eg. a pillar less thick than the wall, other small objects less think than the wall).
The wall cannot encompass a creature. Creatures in the area of effect when the wall appears will be shunted/moved to one side or the other (equal chances).
The wall will fill in small cracks or openings and will adhere features in the terrain and will create an air tight seal with adjacent surfaces (per the GM).
If the wall does not have support from at least one side, it will fall with equal chances of falling one way or another. Thus, the wall will teeter for 1 round and then fall.
If there are creatures in area when the wall falls, those avoiding it must make a Dexterity savs vs. Petrify or take 5d10 points of damage as they are clipped by the falling wall. Any creature unable to move away will be crushed (killed/destroyed/pinned).
Creatures may attempt to push the wall while it teeters. The chance of success is 1% per lb. over 300 and per combined Strength point over 30. If unsuccessful, those creatures will be crushed (per the GM).
Magic Resistance. Magic resistance has no effect once the wall is created.
Materials Components. A small flat piece of iron. The component is consumed in the casting of the spell. Cost/Scarcity. 1 s.p./Common.
Known Substitutions. None.
