This spell allows the caster to see a remote area (if the area is known) as if standing there.
The caster casts the spell and must specify a known location for the point of origin.
"Known" (with regards to this spell) is defined as follows:
A place the caster has previously visited.
A place the caster has viewed using a visual scrying spell and the location is known (i.e. "a room in a manse in the City of Radagast").
A place inside a structure or terrain feature that is completely obvious. i.e. Top room of a tower; In a small copse of trees; Behind a door personally seen by the caster; Just inside a cave entrance; etc.
Once chosen, the point of origin appears in that location and, if the area is lit, the caster can see as if they were standing there. The actual point of origin in the space will be determined by the GM randomly (using quadrants).
If the area is in (normal) darkness, the caster only see out to a 10-ft. radius. This is the case no matter the caster's personal ability to see (i.e. infravision, ultravision, etc.). Magical darkness blocks the ability to see altogether.
Limitations
Once the point of origin is selected, it cannot move.
If the GM determines the locale chosen by the caster is "unknown" the spell will fail.
The spell's point of origin must be on the same plane as the caster.
Metal sheeting or magical wards will block the spell.
Material Components. A pinch of a powdered humanoid pineal gland. The component is consumed in the casting of the spell. Cost/Scarcity. 15 g.p./Rare.
