This spell is used to divine information regarding an important object, a notable unique person, or a special site.
The target of the spell must be notable and/or famous or important - such that its history has been recorded and studied by scholars.
Casting Time. The casting time is 1d4 X 10 rounds if the target of the spell is within arms reach. Otherwise, if the target is thoroughly researched or otherwise familiar to the caster, the casting time is 1d10 days. If information is hearsay or rumor, casting time is 2d6 weeks. During the casting of the spell, the caster is occupied for 8 hours per day and must rest for the remaining 12 hours. No other spell casting or travel can occur. Any i interruption causes the spell to fail.
Once cast, the caster knows whether documentation exists that can give further information about the object, person, or place. If so, the caster is given a bit of information regarding the location in a cryptic form (rhyme, riddle, etc.). Additional information regarding the target may also be provided as part of this.
Material Components. Incense and four strips of ivory (arranged to be touching one another). The components are consumed in the casting of the spell. In addition, the caster must sacrifice something to power the casting. This can be a magic item, one point of ability score drain, or even a creature (the type or individual must be relevant to the target somehow). Cost/Scarcity. incense: 100 gp/Uncommon; ivory: 100 gp/Rare.
