The spell will detect the presence of a named plant or plant type in the area of effect (if present).
Locate Plants. [innate] (concentration) The caster can detect and pinpoint the location of any plants named when declaring the spell in the area of effect.
The caster must name the type of plant to be detected. This can be general or specific (i.e. down to division, class, order, family, genus, species, etc.).
The caster can name plant creatures (if familiarity exists).
When detected, the caster will know the number and exact location, but not how to get to the location or any further details on the specific plant.
The spell allows detection beginning at the end of the round it was cast.
Physical objects, coverings, obstructions, or structures will not limit the detection ability (with the exceptions noted below).
Random Determination. If the GM does not know if the named plants existing in the area, they can roll randomly. Some suggestions:
Most herbs are only found in temperate regions.
Most spices are found in tropical regions.
Use the method listed in the spell, locate animals for plant creatures.
Once the GM determines the frequency of a particular plant in a region, the GM may roll based on the following chances, adjusted for climate/season:
Common: d%; 01-50 equals success.
Uncommon: d%; 01-25 equals success.
Rare: d%; 01-10 equals success.
Very Rare: d%; 01-05 equals success.
Not Found: Automatic failure.
Material Components. Mistletoe.
Known Substitutions. Standard effects for the use of mistletoe substitutions.
