The glassteel spell transforms crystal or glass into a transparent substance with the strength of steel.
An object made of primarily glass or crystal can be transformed into transparent "glassteel". Color, if any, is preserved.
Glassteel objects are treated as "hard metal" with regard to item saving throws with an additional +2 magical bonus on saves (does not stack with other magical bonuses).
Glassteel can be worked as if steel, although doing so will lose its translucency.
Objects primarily made of glassteel have an encumbrance weight of roughly half of those made of steel.
Armor or shields made of glassteel either lose one step in bulk (armor) or become non-bulky (shields).
If plated armor is constucted using glassteel plates, the armor grants an additional +1 mundane bonus to armor class (armor defense is unchanged). If made magical, this bonus will stack with any magical bonus.
Limitations
Typically, glassteel must be worked into usable weapons, armor, or shields. These objects are made of multiple pieces with some non-glassteel integrated. While some parts may incorporate unworked glassteel, even a master artisan cannot overcome the requirements to construct an entire usable object without weak points.
Material Components. A small chip of crystal or glass and a small bit of steel. The components are consumed in the casting of the spell. Cost/Scarcity. Free/Common.
