This spell calls a huge cloud of biting stinging insects.
Once called, the cloud of flying and crawling insects does not move and has the following effects on all creatures within it:
All creatures in the cloud take 1 point of damage each round (sustained at the beginning of the round) due to the insect bites/stings (no save). Damage resistance applies only if applicable against non-magical weapons or weapons made of a specific material. Certain creatures with exceptionally thick skin, may be immune to the damage per the GM. Neither invisibility or cover (unless total) afford protection from the insects.
All creatures within the cloud have 50% concealment within 30-ft. and 100% concealment beyond this.
Creatures with 2 hit dice or less that take damage will become panicked (no save) and will flee in a random direction until they get at least 240-ft. away from the cloud.
Creatures over 2 hit dice have a base 50% chance (d%; 01-50), adjusted by +5% per hit die, of becoming panicked and will likewise flee in a random direction until they get at least 240-ft. away from the cloud. Creatures with enhanced hit dice gain adjustments as per saving throws. Thus, a 6 HD creature has a 20% chance of panicking (after adjustments).
Large fires (e.g. a bonfire) will keep insects at bay in a 20-ft. radius. Torches have no effect but a creature covered in flaming oil or crouched in an area of burning oil will not take damage from insects. The insects will avoid areas filled with heavy, choking smoke. A fireball (or damage causing instantaneous spell with a similar sized area of effect) will temporarily clear insects in the area of effect (no damage taken in that area for 10 rounds). No damage from insects will occur in an area of effect of non-instantaneous spells that cause damage (e.g. the heat area of a wall of fire) while the spell is in effect. Only the point of origin of the spell is subject to a dispel magic effect (if successful, the entire spell is dispelled).
