Casting Time 1 segment
Range Touch
Area of Effect One poisoned creature
Duration 10 rounds per caster level plus 1 hour per caster level
Save nil
This spell will cause the effects of an active poison to effectively halt in the recipient during the duration of the spell.
This spell fails if cast on a creature not already under the effects of a poison.
If cast on a creature suffering the effects of a poison, the effects of that poison will be delayed until the spell duration is complete.
The spell can be cast up to 10 rounds per caster level after a creature was poisoned.
Death Poisons. In the case of a death poison, this will revive the creature for the duration of the spell. While the creature is revived at their previously current health (hit points), the recipient will take 1 point of poison damage every 10 rounds. This damage can be cured using magic but not rest. Once the affected creature is at 1 hit point, no further damage will be taken.
Damaging Poisons. The spell will reverse the damage until the end of the spell. If the poison damage was enough to kill the creature, treat the effect as a death poison.
Other Poison Effects. These effects are reversed or delayed until the spell ends. ie. A creature affected by a sleep poison will awaken and will be unaffected until the spell duration lapses and the poison kicks in once more (resuming any remaining duration from the time the slow poison spell was cast).
Once the spell ends, the creature poisoned immediately suffers the effects of the poison. A new slow poison spell can be cast at any time to extend the duration.
Limitations
Only one poison affecting an individual can be affected by each spell casting unless affected by multiple poisons of the same type. ie. The recipient was struck by 3 darts and was poisoned by two. Assuming these darts were coated by the same poison, all instances of the poison will be delayed.
New instances of any poison (even of the same type) affecting the recipient after the spell was cast, are unaffected by the previously cast slow poison spell. The exception is for pervasive inhaled poisons (such as a gas) which can continue to be breathed without effect assuming the slow poison was cast to delay the effects of breathing the gas. Thus, even moving into new areas containing the same inhaled poison won't require additional saving throws from the recipient.
Material Components. A garlic bud. The component is consumed in the casting of the spell. Cost/Scarcity. Free/common.
