The caster surrounds themselves in flames that will damage creatures touching or striking the caster in melee.
Upon casting, the caster must choose the "hot" (red flames) or "cold" (blue flames) version of the spell. Damage, resistance, and vulnerability corresponds to the color of the flames (red/blue; fire/cold damage; fire/cold resistance; cold/fire vulnerability).
The caster gains resistance (+2; half/none) versus the appropriate elemental damage. This includes immunity to normal types of damage (heat/fire; freezing/cold).
The caster gains vulnerability (half/double damage) versus the appropriate opposing elemental damage. If the caster is immune to elemental damage of this type, the immunity overrides the spell effect.
If hit with a weapon shorter than 8-ft., the attacker will take elemental damage equal to double the damage inflicted. e.g. a sword hits the caster limned in red flames for 8 damage, the sword wielder takes 16 fire damage. The spell does not impart any sort of physical damage resistance to the caster.
