Enchantment/Charm [plant]
Level Druid 4
Components V, S, M
Casting Time 6 segments
Range 0
Area of Effect Up to 4 plants selected by the caster in an 80-ft. radius burst (see description)
Duration 1 round per caster level
Save See description
The target becomes held if it misses it's saving throw.
The caster can select each target by sight.
The caster can target ambulatory plant creatures (as individuals) or all non-ambulatory plants in an area.
Examples of ambulatory or individual plant creatures. Oozes, treants, shambling mounds, shriekers, violet fungi, yellow musk creepers, etc.
Examples of non-ambulatory or area-covering plants. Molds, parasitic growths, green slime, animated plants (such as an entangle spell), etc.
Ambulatory (or Individual) Plant Creatures. The creature must make a Wisdom save vs. Poison (save negates). This spell is not a mind-affecting effect. A single target chosen suffers a -4 penalty to the save. Two targets chosen will both suffer a -2 penalty to the save. Three targets chosen will suffer a -1 penalty to the save. More than three targets chosen grant no modifiers. Plants affected become dormant and unresponsive to stimuli for the duration of the spell. The plants are considered helpless, but many are immune to coup de grace attacks (per the GM).
Non-ambulatory or Area-covering Plants. The caster can target up to 16 square yards of plant matter (256 yards^2). Plants in the area are granted no save and become dormant for the duration. Dormant plants won't release spores, drip, move, grasp, etc. While acidic or similar properties are retained, the plant will not grow (brown mold) or covert flesh (green slime). Brown mold won't absorb heat while dormant.
The caster can target individual plants as well as an area by converting 4 square yards of area into 1 individual plant creature.
Limitations
The spell only affects creatures with the creature type or sub-type, plant.
Material Components. Mistletoe.
Known Substitutions. Standard effects for the use of mistletoe substitutions.
