This spell will neutralize any poison in the creature or object touched.
Victims of Poison. Typically, a victim that succumbs to poison will fall into a coma and die at the end of the next round. For poisons that cause damage, the damage will occur immediately, unless the damage is high enough to kill the creature or drop it into a coma. If damage is high enough to kill*, the creature will fall into a coma and will die at the end of the next round. Some poisons have an onset time and after this period, the poison will affect the victim. If a neutralize poison is cast on a victim of a poison, the poison in their system (of any kind, even if affected by multiple types of poison) will be neutralized. If damaged by poison, and the damage was not enough to kill it, the damage remains. If the victim is in a coma*, they will wake from the coma and can operate normally at the beginning of the next round. A creature that has fallen into a coma from hit point loss due to a damaging poison will be revived at 1 hp. A neutralize poison spell cannot revive a character who has previously died due to poison.
Poisonous Creatures. The caster can also target a poisonous creature with a contact touch attack. If the touch attack is successful, the creature is rendered non-poisonous (no save). If the creature's body manufactures its own poison (from glands, etc.), the creature loses any poisonous attack for 1 round per caster level. If the creature possesses poison weapons, potions of poison, or poisonous material, all will be rendered non-poisonous (instantaneously). Other than potions, magical items that poison will not be affected unless targeted individually.
Magical Items that Poison. Other than a potion of poison, a magical item with a poison effect must be targeted individually. If in the possession of a hostile opponent, this normally requires a called shot (see Combat Basics). Otherwise, the object touched will lose any abilities to poison for 1d4 rounds. A cloak of poisoning will only be affected 20% of the time.
Poisonous Material. Poison in material, typically food or liquid, can be neutralized up to 2 cubic feet of material by caster level being affected (for liquid, that's about 14 gallons per caster level). Objects smeared with contact poison or poisonous traps may likewise be affected but must fall within the volume requirements.
* Creatures with no character class will fall into a coma and die at 0 hp, while creatures with a character class will fall into a coma and "bleed out" (losing 1 hp per round) until -10 hp is achieved and then they will die. If -10 hp is achieved due to poison damage, the creature will fall into or remain in a coma until the end of the next round before dying. If damaged into a coma, but not to -10 hp by poison, a creature with character class levels can have the damage halted using bandaging techniques or magical healing—but subsequently, the creature will not receive further benefit from a neutralize poison spell.

Save vs. Poison (save negates)
This spell will poison the creature touched.
The reverse spell, poison, can only be cast on a creature that can be affected by poison.
The caster must succeed a contact touch attack and then the victim must make a save vs. Poison or become poisoned—falling into a coma and dying from the deadly poison (save negates).
Performance Rating Notes. Good clerics using poison will gain a performance rating mark.
