Casting Time 1 round
Range 30-ft.
Area of Effect Insects called
Duration 1 round per caster level

The spell caster calls a swarm of either flying or crawling insects based on types nearby.
Flying insects will be bees, hornets, wasps, or even biting flies. Crawling insects will be ants or beetles. If giants ants are nearby, these may be called, although only a few will heed the calling.
Swarm. When the insects are called, they appear in a 5-ft. square area selected by the caster in range. If a creature is in that space, the insects attack it (biting, stinging). This will cause 2 points of damage per round. Creatures being damaged by the swarm will be distracted. A distracted creature cannot perform major actions other than moving.
The insects cling to or move with the target until the spell ends.
Once per round, the spell caster can use an innate ability (minor action) to cause the insects called to move to a new creature using magical control (concentration is not a requirement of the spell).
A swarm of flying creatures has a fly speed of 210 ft. per round and crawling insects, 12-ft. per round. Giant ants move at 180 ft. per round. Spell range is for initial summoning only, creatures called can move beyond this range after appearing.
Swarms are immune to physical attacks but can be destroyed by magical area attacks (e.g. fire, frost, etc.) that cause at least 1 hit point of damage to any in the area. A swarmed creature doused in oil that is subsequently lit will kill all insects swarming them (and, if affected by fire, they will also take damage).
Giant Ants. Giant ants attack normally as individual creatures and do not distract creatures.
Swarms can be driven off by moving adjacent to large fires (bonfires) or areas of thick smoke.
Creatures noted as have thick hides or thick scales are immune to these swarm attacks (but not giant ant attacks). Creatures requiring +1 or better magic to-hit are immune these attacks. Creatures immune to pain are immune to the swarm's distraction condition (e.g. undead).
