Casting Time 7 segments
Range Touch
Area of Effect One creature
Duration 1 hour per caster level
Save nil
The recipient can turn itself into stone, similar to being petrified although the effect is under the recipient's control.
The caster casts the spell and touches the recipient.
Thereafter, the recipient can turn itself into a stone statue.
While stone, the recipient can see, hear, and smell normally.
The first transformation is a complex activity. Once the change occurs, a special system save must be made. The creature must make a system save of 82% (d%; 01-82 equals success) adjusted by adding 1 point for each point of their Constitution score. If the system save is failed, the creature is petrified (dead until a stone to flesh spell is used).
After the first transformation, the recipient can become or stone, as desired as an immediate action usable once per round.
Effects of Becoming a Statue
A statue is considered an object in combat and can be hit in melee automatically.
Missile weapons must hit an AC 10.
The statue form is immune to damage from slashing weapons.
The statue form is immune to damage from effects that do not harm heavy stone (wind, normal fire, etc.).
Weapon Attacks. The stone material is hard and the statue form ignores the first 12 points of damage done by each weapon attack. Picks, hammers, and similar weapons do +4 damage to the statue form. Thus, if struck by an axe for 11 points of damage, the recipient takes no damage. If struck by an axe for 16 points of damage, the recipient will take 4 points of damage. The GM will assign a damage type to natural weapons.
Magical energy attacks do no damage if the statue form makes an item save against the attack. If this save is failed, the recipient is granted a save as normal (or none if none).
Material Components. Lime, sand, and a drop of water stirred by an iron bar such as a nail or spike. The components are consumed in the casting of the spell. Cost/Scarcity. Free/Common.
