This spell creates an arc of flame shooting from the spell caster's hand and lasting for the entire round.
The spell caster can choose up to three opponents in melee that are in front of them (if combat facing allows) and each takes 1 fire damage per caster level as they are burned with the jet of flame (no save). e.g. A 3rd level spell caster will do 3 points of fire damage to each opponent.
If the caster focuses the jet of flame on a single target for the entire round, the target takes damage as above, but must make a Dexterity save vs. Breath or exposed items may be destroyed or broken by fire (save vs. Normal Fire).
If not in melee, the caster can use the jet of flame to attempt to destroy one unattended object (save vs. Magical Fire) this will also light unattended flammables in the area (per the GM).
