French Baguettes are classic long loaves of bread with a crisp, golden crust and a soft, airy interior. Made from simple ingredients like flour, water, yeast, and salt, these baguettes bring the authentic taste of French baking to your home. Perfect fresh from the oven or for sandwiches.
Ingredients:
2½ cups bread flour
1 cup water
1 tablespoon white sugar
1½ teaspoons bread machine yeast
1 teaspoon salt
Cooking spray
1 egg yolk
1 tablespoon water
Directions:
Place flour, water, sugar, yeast, and salt into a bread machine pan in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Select the dough cycle and start.
Grease a bowl and cookie sheet with cooking spray and set aside.
When the dough cycle is complete, place dough in the greased bowl and turn to coat all sides.
Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 30 minutes. The dough is ready when indentation remains after pressing.
Punch down the dough and divide into two equal portions. Shape each into a 15-inch-long loaf and place on the prepared cookie sheet.
Cover and let rise again until doubled, about 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Beat egg yolk with 1 tablespoon water and brush over the loaves.
Bake for about 25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on wire racks before serving.
