This Easy Herb-Roasted Turkey is a simple yet flavorful recipe that produces a juicy, tender bird seasoned with a fragrant blend of garlic powder, basil, sage, salt, and pepper. Perfect for holidays or any special occasion, it’s roasted to golden perfection and full of comforting herb aromas.
Ingredients:
1 (12-pound) whole turkey, neck and giblets removed
¾ cup olive oil
2 tablespoons garlic powder
2 teaspoons dried basil
1 teaspoon ground sage
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
2 cups water (for roasting pan)
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).
Clean the turkey and pat it dry with paper towels. Place it in a roasting pan.
In a small bowl, mix olive oil, garlic powder, dried basil, ground sage, salt, and black pepper.
Brush this herb mixture evenly all over the turkey.
Pour 2 cups of water into the bottom of the roasting pan.
Cover the pan with a lid or aluminum foil.
Roast the turkey for about 3 to 3½ hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 180°F (82°C) in the thickest part of the thigh.
Let the turkey rest for 30 minutes before carving.
