Blackened salmon fillets are a flavorful, spicy dish that brings together the richness of salmon with a bold Cajun-inspired spice mix. The cooking method creates a crispy, blackened crust while keeping the inside tender and juicy. This easy recipe is perfect for a quick weeknight meal or a special dinner.
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons ground paprika
1 tablespoon ground cayenne pepper
1 tablespoon onion powder
2 teaspoons salt
½ teaspoon ground white pepper
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
¼ teaspoon dried thyme
¼ teaspoon dried basil
¼ teaspoon dried oregano
4 salmon fillets, skin and bones removed
½ cup unsalted butter, melted
Directions:
In a small bowl, mix together the paprika, cayenne pepper, onion powder, salt, white pepper, black pepper, thyme, basil, and oregano.
Brush both sides of the salmon fillets with ¼ cup of melted butter.
Sprinkle the spice mixture evenly over both sides of the salmon fillets, pressing gently to ensure it sticks.
Heat 2 tablespoons of melted butter in a large skillet over high heat.
Add the salmon fillets to the skillet and cook until the first side is blackened, about 2 to 5 minutes.
Flip the fillets and add the remaining melted butter to the skillet.
Continue cooking until the second side is blackened and the fish flakes easily with a fork, about 3 to 5 minutes.
Remove the salmon from the skillet and serve immediately.
