Cocktail Meatballs are a classic appetizer that combines savory beef meatballs with a sweet and tangy sauce. They're perfect for parties, gatherings, or as a comforting snack. The combination of chili sauce and grape jelly creates a flavorful glaze that complements the meatballs beautifully.
1 pound lean ground beef
½ cup bread crumbs
3 tablespoons minced onion
2 tablespoons water
1 large egg
1 (8 ounce) can jellied cranberry sauce
¾ cup chili sauce
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1½ teaspoons lemon juice
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, bread crumbs, minced onion, water, and egg until well combined.
Shape the mixture into small meatballs and place them on a nonstick baking sheet.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, turning once, until browned and cooked through.
While the meatballs are baking, prepare the sauce by combining the cranberry sauce, chili sauce, brown sugar, and lemon juice in a large saucepan over low heat. Stir until smooth.
Once the meatballs are done, add them to the saucepan with the prepared sauce. Simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally, to allow the flavors to meld.
