Alex Lundie and Nicholas Yung participated in the Advanced Student Leaders Course in the Cook Islands over the October break. They were part of a group of 27 New Zealand students (representing 22 High Schools from across NZ), and 20 students from the Cook Islands who came together for this week-long leadership training and cross-cultural experience.
This course is part of the Pacific Student Leaders Programme - designed to take students from across NZ and the Pacific who have demonstrated leadership potential in their school or community environment, and develop their ability to lead others to achieve visions, goals or tasks. While on the course, each student develops their self and team leadership skills through being able to plan, make decisions, communicate and co-ordinate effectively to achieve a goal. These functional leadership skills are wrapped in leading with a purpose, values and by setting a good example.
The course organisers commented "Alex and Nicholas were both outstanding representatives of your school while they were with us and we wish them both all the very best with their future endeavours! "
