Table overhauled and corrected in Jan. 2010. 1946/47 up to and including 1948/49; during these seasons no national championships were played, only regional ones. The table was completely overhauled and corrected in January 2021.

Notes: Note that the team names in the table are the last known while playing in DDR 1st level. 1949/50: Relegation playoff: ZSG Altenburg vs. ZSG Anker Wismar 3-2, is counted. 1950/51: Championship playoff: BSG Chemie Leipzig vs. BSG Turbine Erfurt 2-0, is counted. 1952/53: Championship playoff: Dynamo Dresden vs. BSG Wismut Aue 3-2aet, is counted. 1961/62: Wismut Karl-Marx-Stadt had two points deducted. 1966/67: Wismut Gera had two points deducted. 1967/68: Vorwärts Berlin had two points deducted. 1973/74: Stahl Riesa had two points deducted. 1983/84: Relegation playoff: 1. The old Dynamo Dresden mentioned here is therefore not to be understood as the Dynamo Dresden of 1962/63 and onwards).
