Table composed from reliable material; thanks to Jack Rollin and Claudio Nicoletti. Seasons 1915/16 up to and including 1918/19 no championship played because of WW 1, only regional leagues were in operation. Season 1939/40 played three rounds before  suspension because of WW 2 (not counted in the table). The rest of that season as well as all seasons from then on up to and including the 1945/46 one were suspended  because of WW 2, only regional leagues in operation. You are free to copy this document in a non-commercial capacity but please state the source. The table was completely overhauled in January 2020.

 * Sunderland had two (three) points deducted for fielding an ineligible player during the 1890/91-season.  * Arsenal had two points deducted during the 1990/91-season for disciplinary reasons.  * Manchester United had one point deducted during the 1990/91-season for disciplinary reasons.  * Middlesbrough had three points deducted during the 1996/97-season for failure to fulfill a fixture on  a given date.  * Portsmouth had nine points deducted during the 2009/10-season for financial issues.   Arsenal previously called Woolwich Arsenal. Manchester United previously called Newton Heath. Birmingham City previously called Small Heath. Leicester City previously called Leicester Fosse. Stoke City previously called Stoke.
