Tie-breakers in case of equality on points: 1. Goal difference. 2. Goals scored. 3. Games won. 4. Games played (the fewer the better). 5. Tournaments participated in (the fewer the better).  The Europa League was formed after the 2008/09-season when the UEFA Intertoto Cup merged with  the UEFA Cup. One point to make is that a team can play in the Champions League as well as the  Europa League in a given season. The team can start in the Champions League, get knocked out and  enter the Europa League, but not the other way around during the same season. (This is the normal state of affairs).

Notes: For notes on namechanges: see the original UEFA club totals file. 2009/10: The game Dinamo Bucuresti vs. Slovan Liberec originally ended 0-2 but was set to 0-3 as the former had used an ineligible player. 2011/12: Olympiakos Volou were thrown out of the competition for corruption during their leagueseason. 2011/12: Trabzonspor were tranferred to the CL after having played one game - counted in the table - because of the vacancy left by Fenerbahce.
