The table is composed from reliable material. Thanks to Jack Rollin, Michael Dean Raney and Brian Baxter for information on several different things. PA = Point alterations. The table was completely overhauled and corrected in April 2020.

NOTES:

Port Glasgow Athletic had seven (11 with three points for a win) points deducted during the 1893/94-season for using an ineligible player.  During the 1894/95-season Renton failed to appear at Dundee Wanderers who were awarded two (three) extra points as a result.  Linthouse had four (six) points deducted during the 1896/97-season.  During the 1897/98-season Renton withdrew after four matches and were replaced by Hamilton Academical. The latter played Renton’s remaining fixtures. The seasons  is counted as one season for each team.  Albion Rovers had two (three) points deducted for using an ineligible player during the 1903/04-season.  Cowdenbeath had two (three) points deducted during the 1906/07-season and a further two (three) during the 1922/23-season, both times for using ineligible players.  The replay to avoid a re-election proces between Raith Rovers and East Stirlingshire (3-2) 1906/07 is counted in the table. Thanks to Brian McColl for the specific  resullt.  Dumbarton had two (three) points deducted for using an ineligible player during the 1907/08-season.  Seasons 1915/16-1920/21 not played because of WW1 and its aftermatch.  Ayr United is the result of an amalgamation between Ayr FC and Ayr Parkhouse made in 1910.  Dundee United was formed in 1909 as Dundee Hibernians, but changed to the present name in 1923.  During the 1928/29-season Arthurlie and Bathgate withdrew. Arthurlies record (32 games played) were allowed to stand, Bathgates were not and were thus expunged from  the table.  Armadale and Bo'ness were expelled in November 1932 for failure to meet match guarantees. Their records were expunged.  Season 1939/40 was halted after five rounds. 1940/41-45/46 not played because of WW2 at its aftermatch.  The co-operation between East Stirlingshire and Clydebank into one team was only in effect one season (1964/65).  Leith Athletic did also play under the name Leith FC.  Greenock Morton did previously had the name Morton.  Livingston have also played under the name Meadowbank Thistle.  Forfar Athletic had two (three) points deducted during the 1989/90-season for breach of rule.  Dundee FC had 25 points deducted during the 2010/11-season for going into administration.  Dunfermline Athletic had 15 points deducted during the 2012/13-season for going into administration.  Livingston had five points deducted during the 2014/15-season for non-settling of taxdebts.  Season 2019/20 was halted in mid-March 2020 due the Corona pandemic. The standings at the time were declared final and the outcome was counted on points per game.
