FINALS

Notes

Benin includes results by Dahomey. Burkina Faso includes results by Upper Volta. DR Congo includes results by Zaire. Germany includes results by FRG (West Germany). Indonesia includes results by Dutch West Indies. Myanmar includes results by Burma. Samoa includes results by Western Samoa. Yugoslavia includes results by Serbia and Montenegro. South Korea includes results by Korea. Soviet Union includes results by CIS. 1916, 1940 & 1944: No Olympic games because of war. The "home countries", i.e. Scotland, Wales, England and Northern Ireland, are not counted here as they are not members of the IOC. They are together members as part of the IOC member Great Britain. However, results for other teams against the aforementioned are counted. Some sources, for example RSSSF, stated for the 1992 Olympics qualification that San Marino and Luxemburg weren't IOC members, but that is clearly wrong as they had athletes competing in 1992 and onwards. So, San Marino and Luxemburg are counted here. Faroe Islands is not a member of IOC and therefore not counted here. 1920: The final between Belgium and Czechoslovakia was abandoned after 39 minutes with the score 2-0 to Belgium. As not at least half the game was played it is not counted here. Czechoslovakia was officially disqualified but their results are counted here. 1924: The final of the consolation tournament Netherlands vs. Chile ended 2-2 aet. Netherlands was declared winner by drawing of lots. However, I have this game as a draw as it wasn't dediced by standard football tiebreakers. 1932: No football tournament was held. 1960: The semifinal Italy vs. Yugoslavia ended 1-1 aet. Yugoslavia was declared winner by drawing of lots. However, I have this game as a draw as it wasn't dediced by standard football tiebreakers. 1968: The quarterfinal Bulgaria vs. Israel ended 1-1 aet. Bulgaria was declared winner by drawing of lots. However, I have this game as a draw as it wasn't dediced by standard football tiebreakers. 1960: The qualifying game Taiwan vs. South Korea was abandoned after 35 minutes. It is not counted as at least half the game wasn't played. 1996: The final round of the European qualifying not counted as the teams were already qualified by then. 2000: Final and 3rd place game in the European and the Concacaf qualifying not counted as the teams were already qualified by then. 2004: Final of the European qualifying not counted as the teams were already qualified by then. 2004 & 2008: Final and 3rd place game in the Concacaf qualifying not counted as the teams were already qualified by then. 2008: Semifinals and Final of the European qualifying not counted as the teams were already qualified by then. 2012: Final of the European, Concacaf and CAF qualifying and the 3rd place game of the OFC qualifying, respectively, not counted as the teams were already qualified by then. 2016: Final of the AFC, CAF and Concacaf qualifying and the playoff of the UEFA qualifying, respectively, not counted as the teams were already qualified by then. 2021: The third place match of the OFC qualifying not counted as it was only part of the OFC U23 Championship and not the qualifying for the Olympcs. 2021: The semifinal and the final of the UEFA qualifying as well as the final of the AFC, CAF and Concacaf qualifying, respectively, not counted as the teams were already qualified by then. 2021: The two games DR Congo vs Morocco in the 2nd round of the CAF qualifying were stricken altogether as the former used an ineligible (overaged) player. Officially, Morocco won on w/o, but with no goals awarded.
