At any point during the Assessment, Case, or Licensing process, you can upload photos and files that are evidence or related to the unit of work or Casebook Person on the File Uploads card. You can upload multiple attachments of any kind at the same time using a flash upload from the File Uploads card.
All files uploaded to Casebook will display in the File Uploads card on the related unit of work or Person Profile. This includes files related to court hearings, files emailed into the unit of work, or uploaded through the card itself.
On a unit of work, scroll to the File Uploads card and click Edit/Add
Files can be uploaded either by clicking "Upload File" or using "Drag and Drop".
Clicking "Upload File"
A window will open that prompts you to select the file from your computer. Once you have selected the file you want to upload, click Open
Using "Drag and Drop"
An advanced method is to open the file directory on your computer, select the file you wish to upload and drag it to the "File Uploads" screen
Once the file is selected, the file is uploaded to the file uploads page. A spinner indicates the file is uploading and will disappear when the file has successfully uploaded. The file name, the file source, and a thumbnail image of the file will display in the File Uploads table
You can also upload multiple files. When you start an upload (either through the file picker or through drag/drop) you will see a spinner for each file being uploaded. When a file succeeds, the spinner for that file will disappear. When an upload fails, a red error bar appears with the message "Failed upload" and the name of the file that failed to upload
Each uploaded file is displayed in its own card for editing
If the wrong file was uploaded, click the small 'x' to remove the file
Enter required fields, subject matter and content, and optionally date, description and related people
Subject matter and content are client configurable fields and are dependent on the unit of work to which the file has been uploaded. If you don't see a value you expect you can send a Help Ticket to request or report a missing category
Add related people using the person autocompleter. Multiple people can be added as related people to the file
Click Save, when information has been entered for all uploaded files
Return to the unit of work page by clicking the Close button at the bottom of the page or clicking the unit of work link at the top of the page
Note:
File attachments can also be emailed into a case or assessment. See Emailing into a Case/Assessment for more information.
The limit for an file that will be uploaded is 100 MB. If the file is larger than this size, it will not upload and you will receive an error message on the edit screen of the file uploads card. When you upload several large files together (an 85 mb file, 99mb file and a 100mb file at the same time for example), the 100mb failure should happen nearly immediately and well before the 99mb file. The failure message will also list the failed files in order of size from largest to smallest.
If your file is larger than 100 MB (the file size limit), consider breaking it into several smaller files and uploaded them together. If you break a larger file into parts, you may want to explain that a file is 1 of X parts of the whole.
On the main page of the unit of work or Person page. A summary of the most recently uploaded files will appear on the File Uploads card. Clicking the file name will allow you to download and open the file. The file source is a link that will take you to the related unit of work. You can see all uploaded files by clicking "See all files" which will take you to the unit of work's History page filtered for file uploads.
