You can add or edit focus children on a case from the Focus Children card on the main overview page of a case.
Focus Children are listed on the Child Involvement Status card at the top of the Case Page. (This card was formerly labeled as the Focus Child card. Click the Action button to select "Add or Delete" Focus Child
Click the Add New Child link.
Enter the new focus child's name and involvement type.
Click Save. Regardless of whether you click the Add New button, you must click the Save button on the page to save the new focus child to the case.
The only way to remove a focus child(ren) from a case is by deleting them from the case.
Click Edit on the Focus Child card from the main case page as illustrated above.
Click the small "x" next to the focus child you want to delete from the case. This will not delete the child from Casebook.
A confirmation message displays. Click Delete to complete the action.
A focus child with an open removal can not be deleted if they do not have any other open involvements on any other cases
A focus child cannot be deleted if they are the only focus child on a case.
Note:
A warning displays if you attempt to add a Focus Child already on the Case.
Choose Cancel to not add the Duplicate Focus Child
Information on focus children is found on the Child Involvement Status card. The information for each focus child is as follows:
The child's name as a link to the child's person page
The child's age and DOB if available
The last date the child has been contacted by a Caseworker
The involvement type of the child along along with the date when the involvement type was created or changed
The child's removal status with date
If the child has an open involvement on another case
The rules below describe how and when the data will display on the card:
If the child has a current involvement type on this case, display the child's involvement type along with the date on which the involvement type started. (for example, Child in Need of Services (CHINS), as of 12/23/2011)
If the child has a closed involvement type on the current case but has 1 open involvement type on another case.
display the closed involvement type on the current case as described above
display the open involvement type on the second case at the bottom of the card using the following format: Open involvement type on {link to case containing open involvement} (type of involvement)
If the child has a closed involvement type on the current case but has more than 1 open involvement types on another case, on the bottom of the card display using the following format: Open Involvements on 2 other cases (IA, JD/JS)
Each type of involvement type will be listed only once, so if there are multiple IA cases, IA will only be listed once
If there has never been any removal episodes, display "Never Removed"
If there is 1 removal that is open, display OPEN REMOVAL since start_date
If there are closed removals as well, closed removal episodes will not display
Open removals will be highlighted with a blue background
If there is 1 or more removal that is closed, display "nth Removal Ended" along with the closure date from the removal ending court hearing.
Removal status will display even if the involvement type is closed.
If there is an open removal episode, no court hearing outcomes or permanency outcomes for previous hearings will display.
If there are no open removals but the child had a previous removal that closed, the following will display:
the court hearing outcome that closed the latest removal episode (along with a link to the court hearing pageI )
the permanency outcome that resulting from the court hearing
If there are no open removal episodes and no previous removal episodes, no court hearing outcomes or permanency outcomes for previous hearings will display
