Emergency Assistance Eligibility is only extended to an eligible focus child (and anyone with whom it is shared) for 120 days. Once a focus child, or eligibility group member, has received EA services, they are not eligible to receive them again for 1 year after the last day services were received.
If the child is not eligible for IV-E eligibility, is at home, and at least one year has passed since the last day EA services were received, a child can be considered for EA again. The same two triggering events (Supervisor approval of an IA Plan and the creation of a Petition for CHINS court hearing) will trigger subsequent EA eligibility applications.
Additionally, services can only be authorized once during an involvement with the family.
If any family household member has been authorized for EA services, all members of the family household, if they were authorized to receive Emergency Assistance, must wait until the next emergency assistance event takes place a year after the last day of authorized services
The system should not allow EA services to be authorized until a new removal episode or involvement with the family occurs and it is at least 12 months from previous EA determination
