The Historical Locations page displays the Child's entire placement history up to the current location. Historical locations are primarily edited via Case and Assessment but can also be edited on the Person's Profile page.
Note: The Historical Locations page can only be used to edit or add previous placements. Instructions on how to add a current placement are found on the Creating Placements page.
Historical Locations can be accessed from Case, Assessment and Person Profile pages.
On a Case or Assessment, scroll to the Placements & Locations Card, click the down arrow next to Update Location and click View Location History.
On a Person Profile page scroll to the Placements & Locations Card, click Actions and select View location History.
Note: User roles that lack the permissions to update locations will instead see a Location History link on the Placements and Locations card.
The layout of the Locations History page will differ depending on the Unit of Work it is accessed from:
From a Case each Focus Child will have a dedicated card.
From an Assessment each victim will have a dedicated card.
From a Person Profile page only their card will be displayed.
Note: When viewing the Location History page from a case, the focus child(ren)'s involvement status is displayed. If the Historical locations are viewed from an assessment or Person Profile page, the involvement status is not displayed.
From a Case
From an Assessment or the Person Profile page
Note: AFCARS Questionnaire link for each Focus Child will be displayed for their most recent removal episode.
The Location History page displays information in four separate sections:
Current Locations
Location History
Other Location History
Imported Addresses
Note: Section will not be visible if person has no relevant locations.
Both removal locations and non-removal locations without end dates are shown in this section.
Note: A child can have up to three current Removal Locations and one non-removal location at the same time. Example:
All removal locations that have ended are displayed in this section
At the end of a Removal Episode, there is a link that displays the reason that the Court Hearing closed. Clicking the reason opens a pop up window that links to the Court Hearing.
At the beginning of a Removal Episode, there is a link to the AFCARS Questionnaire.
Households that are displayed on the Location History page displays the following as a start date if not provided.
If the household start date is not given, the default start date will be the child’s date of birth on the Location History page.
If the date of birth is missing, the Household displays “Unknown” as the start date.
All ended non-removal Other Locations are displayed in this section. If no historical non-removal other locations exist for a person, this section will not be displayed. Instructions on how to add a Other Location can be found on the Other Locations page.
Addresses that have been imported from previous case management system.
Note: Imported addresses will not display on Case, Assessment or Person Profile pages as current locations.
All Current and Past Historical Locations display both a Pencil and X at the top right corner. To delete select the x and then click delete on the confirmation modal. To edit click the pencil and follow the steps below:
An inline form opens displaying all fields for the Location. Here the users can update all information regarding the placement including the start and end dates.
Click Save when finished editing.
Workers can add a Historical Placement for a focus child or a victim through the Location History page's action menu. Selecting Add Historical Removal location opens a removal location form.
Note: The end date is required on the form because only historical locations can be created from this form.
To learn how to update the location and fill out this form, go to the Creating Placements page.
The location History page has two different alert messages for missing information.
If the person is missing a household and does not have an open removal location, a Missing Household alert is displayed. To learn how to update households, go to the Creating Households page.
If a victim or focus child is in an open removal episode and has no current open placement, a 'No Current Placement' alert is displayed. To learn how to update the location, go to the Creating Placements page.
If a placement or location is deleted and it causes a trial home visit to be listed as the first location of a removal episode, the worker will receive an error message. A trial home visit cannot begin a removal episode.
Note: If a placement gap is created as a result of the edits a warning message will display the details of the gap and will allow you to add a past location by clicking the Historical Location button.
To learn more about placement gaps see Placement Gaps
A child safety warning appears when a child's removal episode has ended because of a court hearing; yet by either deletion or creation, a removal location is open for the child before the date of the court hearing that ended the episode.
