Many text boxes in Casebook asking for a specific name of a person or resource are coded as autcompleters. Autocompleters will help you find the unit of work you're looking for by actively predicting a word or phrase while you are typing a word or phrase.
As you type into the autocompleter, search results containing the letters you typed will appear.
People related to the unit of work you're working on will appear under the "Associated People" tab at the top of the list of results.
Under the "All People in MaGIK" tab the results that most closely resemble what you typed appear first; the more you type, the more accurate and relevant the results displayed will be.
Any letters in the search criteria that match with the search results are bolded.
The autocompleter you're typing in will have a light blue highlight around it.
You can search by Person MaGIK ID number or name in the auto-competer to find the exact person you’re looking for. The text in a person autocompleter box prompts you to search either way.
Autocompleters pull information from the person profile page and display it in the search results to help you identify the correct match. This information includes: profile picture, MaGIK ID, SSN, age, birthdate, household and CPI flag if applicable.
If a person has no household address, but an imported address, the imported address may show up in the autocompleter. If this happens, add the imported address as a previous address (with the associated dates) and delete the imported address.
In Casebook, when you click into a text field that has been coded as an auto-completer, a drop down box will appear with two tabs. One tab (the default) will represent people associated with the piece of work you are in and the other tab allowing you to do a universal search for those not yet associated with the piece of work. Associated people include people who are related to a unit of work and have relationships with each other.
Depending on the location of the "Associated People" list the following messages will be displayed:
Person - "These people either have a relationship with this person or are in the person's household".
Assessment - "These people are related to victims and/or prepetrators on this assessment or they are the report source or the assigned worker."
Cases - "These people are focus children or are related to focus children on this case or the assigned worker."
Foster Families - "These people are applicants or household members on this Foster Family."
If you expect to see a person in the associated people list, but that person does not appear, you may need to add a relationships between the focus child of the case/assessment and the associated person.
If you select "All People in Casebook" as you type in the auto-completer, the list of people is filtered according to the search criteria and any search results will appear below this list of people. Any letters in the search criteria that match with the search results are bolded.
Load More Items
Auto-completers in Casebook display the first 25 results by default. If the name you are searching with pulls up more than 25 search results, a link to "see more items" will display at the end of the list of results. At the top of the auto-completer search results, it will list how many results have been found in Casebook and how many results are currently displayed. Clicking this link will display the next 25 results. This process can be done as many times as needed until all results are displayed.
Auto-completer text boxes in Casebook allow you to create a new person or resource. The steps below will illustrate using a person auto-completer; the steps for a resource auto-completer are the same.
Search for the person or resource you want to add in the auto-completer. At the bottom of the list of results is a link to "Create as a New Person".
Clicking this link will open a window that allows you to fill in the new person's name, gender, birthday, email address, and cell phone number. Only the name needs to be filled out to save the new person. When the information for the new person has been saved, they automatically populated the auto-completer and a person profile page is created for them in Casebook.
In addition to people auto-completers, Casebook also has auto-completers that help you fill in other information. For example:
Health/medical condition auto-completers: these are found on the person profile page in the health section. They are pre-populated with a list of health conditions and are strictly managed.
Health Care Providers auto-completers: there are found on the person profile page in the health section. They are populated with a list of Health Care Providers, not the entire list of people in Casebook.
Resource auto-completers: these auto-completers help workers find foster families, residential resources, placement providers, and out-of-state resources.
