In Casebook, a Runaway can be created for a child that is in the At Home or Out of Home section of a Case or Assessment. This page explains how to create a Runaway for a child in either situation.
A historical Runaway, for an Out of Home child, is created from the Editing Placements page.
Click Update Location on the Placements & Locations card for a Child in a Case or Assessment.
Select No, this is not a removal location.
Select Runaway as the location type and fill in the start date. Click save after completing the form.
Note:
Click on the tooltip for more information on what is considered a Runaway
A confirmation window displays the date that the Runaway started. If a date is not entered, unknown is displayed.
Click Save to create the Runaway or Back to edit information.
The created Runaway is displayed in the At Home section with the date that the runaway began
An At Home Runaway can also be created from the Locations/Placements and Locations card on the Person Profile page through the Actions menu. This menu offers the same options as the drop down menu on the Update Location button on Case or Assessment pages.
Note: From a Case or Assessment you may choose whether to create a Runaway as a removal location or a non-removal location. If the child is not in a current removal episode then only a non-removal runaway can be created from this menu.
Note:
A start date is not required for an At Home runaway
1) Click Update Location on the Placements & Locations
card for a Child in a Case or Assessment.
2) Select Yes, Focus Child is being removed.
3) Select Runaway from the dropdown.
4) Fill in the Start Date & Time.
5) Fill in the reason why the location is changing and
click Save. Clicking Cancel returns to the Case overview page.
6) A confirmation window displays the date and time that the Runaway begins. Click Save to create the Runaway or Back to edit information.
The Runaway is then displayed in the Out of Home section of a Case and/or Assessment
Note:
If a Runaway is the first Removal Location of a child, a No Current Placement warning message displays
Click the down arrow next to the update location button and select End Runaway Status.
Enter a date that is after the beginning of the Runaway and click save.
The confirmation window shows when the Runaway started and the date that it will end.
Click save on the confirmation window to end the Runaway status. Click back to edit the end date.
The child remains in the section from where the Runaway status began. An Out of Home Child will remain in the Out of Home section. A Runaway for a child in the At Home section can end from the Locations/Placement and Locations card as well.
