In Casebook, an individual can be part of multiple households. Of these, workers designate which is the Primary and which is the Secondary household for a person. There can only be one primary current household, which should be the focus child's main household. This is often where the child spends the majority of their time and where the child is most likely to be residing at night. A secondary household is another household the child is part of.
All households, regardless of designation are created through the same flow. If a person is only part of one household, that household is automatically considered their primary household.
In general, it is good practice to enter a person's primary household first. However, if this is not possible, it is possible to designate another household as primary in the workflow for creating a new household.
If new or multiple households are created for other members when adding a new household, their oldest household is assigned as primary by default.
Go to a person page for someone who already has one household. When a person already has a household, the address will appear in their address card and also in the family network.

The new primary household card should be listed first on the Household tab.
All the households a person belongs to can be viewed from the Family Network card on their Person Profile Page. By default, a person's primary household is displayed in this card.
Using the dropdown menu, workers can toggle between households. When a different household is selected from the list, the family network is redrawn and the address listed in the title of the main box is that of the household currently being viewed.
Multiple current addresses and households can also be viewed from the Address Card. By default, the address associated with the primary household is the only current address listed as current. If a person has a current secondary household, the first address listed in the previous section of the card will be associated with the current secondary household.
One signal to workers that an individual may have a primary and secondary household is if there is a previous address with date that show it to be current -- ie: 5/1/2012 to present.
