The Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths tool allows you to record a large amount of information on a child's present environment. This information allows FCMs to assess the needs of children and record a specific score. This score is a standardized unit that helps to determine what services or other interventions the child might need from DCS.
The CANS Assessment contains a link that connects users to KidTraks to complete the CANS Assessment. You can connect directly to KidTraks from Casebook and will be automatically signed in after clicking the link.
You can navigate to KidTraks to create, edit, or delete a CANS Assessment from a case or an assessment
From the Plans and Tools card on a Case or Assessment, click Add.
Select CANS Assessment from the dropdown list
Click the "Launch KidTraks" link to complete the CANS Assessment in KidTraks.
The information from KidTraks will come into Casebook through an integration.
Casebook displays the calculated scores and recommendations made in a CANS Assessment
Click the CANS Assessment's name on the Plans and Tools card to view the tool.
The scores are color coded:
Gray - (-1 to 1)
Red - (2 and above)
To edit or delete the CANS Assessment, click the linked name in the Plans and Tools card on the overview page of the case or assessment. This will open the view page of the CANS Assessment.
Click the "Launch KidTraks" link to open the CANS Assessment in KidTraks where you can edit or delete the plan.
