In some instances, a person in the focus child's assistance group may also support someone in the household who is not in the assistance group. In this circumstance, the portion of income the assistance group member spends supporting people outside of the assistance group should not be included in the standard of need calculations for the focus child. This process of subtracting a portion of an assistance group member's income out of the standard of need calculations is known as allocating income.
Allocated income is not included in either the 100% or 185% income tests to determine a child’s eligibility
This worksheet will help you calculate the amount of income to allocate for the 185% and 100% income tests.
