Regardless of whether a resource is licensed or still applying for a license, you can add a waiver, variance, or exception to the resource in Casebook. Once a waiver, variance, or exception has been added to the resource it will need to be sent to Central Office for approval. Below is a brief explanation of each type:
Waiver: when a resource does not have to satisfy a rule.
Variance: when a resource satisfies rule a different way
Exception: when a resource breaks the capacity rule by having more than allowable number of children
To Add a Waiver, Variance, or Exception
From the main overview page of a resource, click Edit on the License Summary card.
Click on the Waivers, Variances, and Exceptions add slug.
In the inline form that opens, select the type you are adding, enter an explanation, and click Add New.
The newly entered information will display on the edit screen above the add slug. You can click the small 'x' on the right hand side to delete the information if needed.
Click Save at the bottom of the page. You will be taken back to the main overview screen of the resource. Information about the new waiver, variance, or exception will be found on the license summary card.
If the resource was not already licensed, continue through the workflow for Initial Licensure (read more about it here)
If the resource was already licensed, you will need to resubmit it for approval and endorsed to Central Office using the buttons on the bottom of the overview page. You will also see a revert slug on the license summary card that signals this change will affect the license and must be approved.
Once the change has been reviewed and approved by your supervisor and Central Office, the License Summary card will display the change, which is reflective of the newly revised, printable license.
