Within a removal episode, a child can move between multiple placements, temporary absences, or trial home visits. When a new placement is added to a removal episode, you are given the option to end-date the previous placement with the start date of the new placement. This helps prevent gaps between placements and losing track of where the child is at any point in time.
For a child who is in an open removal episode:
Click edit on the “Removals and Locations” card from the case or assessment page.
Click “Add New Location” and fill in the inline form that opens. For more information on filling out this inline form, click here. The last question asks you if you would like to also end the current ongoing location.
When entering the start date, you will see a question that reads “Also end current ongoing locations on this start date/time?”
If you select yes, Casebook will automatically end the prior location with the start date and time of the new location.
If you select no, you will need to manually enter the start date of the new placement and the end date of the prior placement on the form.
If the start date of the new placement is before the start date of the current open placement, you will receive a warning on the form. You cannot have overlapping placements for a child.
If you select no, and create a placement gap, you will receive a warning message. To learn how to fix the placement gap, click here.
