Porpita

Hello friends welcome to museum of Zoology Department, Shri Shivaji Science College, Nagpur. I am Porpita, also known as the blue button. I am a colonial hydrozoan, related to jellyfish and corals. I float on the ocean surface, carried by currents and winds. My central disk acts as a float, keeping me buoyant. My tentacles hang down from the central disk and contain stinging cells. My sting is mild and generally harmless to humans. I am typically blue or purple in color, which helps me camouflage in the ocean. Thank you visit again.
