Sphenodon
Sphenodon
Hello friends, Welcome to zoology museum, Shri Shivaji Science College Nagpur. I am Sphenodon, commonly known as the tuatara, a reptile endemic to New Zealand. My body resembles that of a lizard, but I am the only surviving member of an ancient group of reptiles that existed during the time of the dinosaurs. I have a parietal eye, a light-sensitive organ on the top of my head, which helps regulate my body’s circadian rhythm. I am a slow-growing species, with a long lifespan that can exceed 100 years. I am carnivorous, feeding on insects, birds, and small reptiles. My reproduction involves laying eggs, which take a long time to hatch, and I am highly sensitive to changes in my environment. Thank you visit again.
