Mytilus (Mussel) 

Hello friends, welcome to zoology museum, Shri Shivaji Science College, Nagpur. I’m Mytilus, a mussel that lives in the sea. I have a hard, two-part shell that protects my soft body. I attach to rocks and other surfaces with sticky threads called byssus. I filter water to feed on tiny plankton. My shell has a smooth, dark outer surface. I help clean the water by filtering out particles. I prefer to live in groups, forming dense beds. My gills help me both breathe and feed. I rely on the tides, feeding when I’m underwater. I’m a popular seafood choice for humans. I play an important role in coastal ecosystems. Thankyou visit again.
