Necturus (Mudpuppy)
Necturus (Mudpuppy)
Hello friends welcome to Zoology Museum Shri Shivaji Science college, Nagpur. I am Necturus, known as the mudpuppy. I’m an aquatic salamander found in North American freshwater bodies. I retain my external gills throughout my life. I can grow up to 40 cm, making me one of the larger salamanders. I’m nocturnal, hunting for insects, worms, and small fish. My skin is smooth and moist, with a variety of colors. I play an important role in my ecosystem as both predator and prey. I’m sensitive to water pollution, making me an indicator species. I’m capable of regenerating lost limbs and body parts. I’m often found in rivers, lakes, and streams with rocky bottoms. Thank you visit again.
