Catla

Hello friends welcome to museum of Zoology Department, Shri Shivaji Science College, Nagpur. I am Catla, a large freshwater fish known as Catla catla. I belong to the carp family, Cyprinidae. My head is large, and my lower jaw protrudes. I am an omnivore, feeding on plankton, algae, and small invertebrates. I inhabit rivers, lakes, and reservoirs. I spawn during the monsoon season in flooded rivers. I am important in aquaculture and fisheries due to my rapid growth. I am a popular choice for both food and sport fishing. Thank you visit again.
