Salpa
Salpa
Hello Friends, Welcome To Zoology Museum, Shri Shivaji Science College Nagpur. I am Salpa, a pelagic tunicate that drifts in the open ocean. I have a transparent, barrel-shaped body and move by contracting my body to pump water through a central siphon, which helps me both move and filter plankton for food. I can reproduce both sexually and asexually, forming long chains of individuals that drift together. I play an important role in marine ecosystems by filtering large amounts of water and consuming phytoplankton. My body is soft and gelatinous, and I am bioluminescent, emitting light in the dark ocean depths. Thank you visit again.
