Hello Friends, Welcome To Zoology Museum, Shri Shivaji Science College Nagpur. I am Porpita, also known as the blue button, a colonial marine organism related to jellyfish. My body consists of a central disc surrounded by tentacles, which I use to capture prey like plankton. I float on the surface of the ocean, propelled by the wind and currents. My bright blue or purple color serves as a warning to predators, as my sting, while mild, can be irritating. I live in warm ocean waters and often drift in large colonies, forming vast mats on the sea's surface. I am a passive feeder, relying on water movement to bring food to me. Thank you visit again.
